Assassin's Creed: Origins

Dead in the Water

By
Nathan Garvin

Suggested Level: 38

You’ll find this quest in Apollonia, in a variable location, as the quest-giver, Agatha, moves about the city. Track her down and talk to her and she’ll complain about her son Titus, who formerly fought for Rome before betraying them and joining the rebels. For this small infraction they have him imprisoned, and she begs you to rescue him.

Talk to Agatha to start the quest (left) then start clearing out the Apollonia Roman Barracks (right).

Apollonia Roman Barracks

Make your way to the docks along the northeastern edge of Cyrene, where you’ll find the Apollonia Roman Barracks. This small fort has large walls and few enemies, making it a relatively easy target at this phase in the game. That said, you do have to be wary of convoys which will pass by the fort, traveling along the road to the south, and triremes with more soldiers may dock nearby, both of which serve to inflate the otherwise weak garrison. With a little patience you shouldn’t have any trouble killing the soldiers and their captain (level 39). When you do, search the building east of the southern gate, wherein you’ll find a red chest.

Reward: For completing the Apollonia Roman Barracks
600 XP

Free Agatha’s son Titus (left) then escort him out of the barracks and he’ll tell you about the nefarious Roman Navarch (right).

After clearing the camp, search the building in the southeastern end of area, which also happens to be under the alarm brazier. Inside this building you’ll find Titus in a cage, so break him out, then escort him away from the camp until he’s safe. Chat with Titus and he’ll suggest you dispatch the Roman Navarch and thus throw the Roman fleet off the coast of Cyrene into disorder.

Use Senu to locate the Navarch (left) then intercept the ship and start picking off Romans, including the Navarch (right).

There’s no task too trivial for Bayek, so commandeer a boat and sail towards the quest marker until you’re within Senu range, then use the bird to spot your target. Sail up to and board the ship and kill the crew, including the Navarch. The enemies on board are lower-level than the ones in the Apollonia Roman Barracks, and you can safely cling to the side and whistle them to their doom… or just cut them down all messy-like. Either way, when the Navarch is dead, this quest will end.

Reward: For completing the quest “Dead in the Water”

One such aggrieved individual, Bayek, a Medjay from Siwa, now seeks revenge against this secret organization. Ultimately going back to the origins of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a rebirth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, adding a vast open world, a revamped combat system and RPG elements to the prolific stealth-action series.
