Final Fantasy is one of the longest running series in gaming history, with the first game being released in 1987 in Japan. It has spawned countless sequels, as well as a plethora of spin-offs, making it one of the most loved franchises in the world. In 2006, one of the entries was released on the Playstation 2, titled Final Fantasy XII, which featured slightly different gameplay than previous titles. It certainly was one of the those love-hate types of games, with one type of people adoring the title, while others weren’t so fond of it.
I was one of those people who actually didn’t like the game when I first played it, but after going back and spending more time with it, I grew to absolutely love it and ended up doing multiple playthroughs (back to back, too), adding upwards of 300+ hours to the game. It was the world, the characters (well, most of the characters) and gameplay that drew me into FFXII. It introduced a seamless battle system, as well as Gambits, one of the best implementations of party AI in gaming history (making me wish Gambits were in every game with uncontrollable party members).
The main purpose of this guide will be to provide a beginning-to-end walkthrough of the main story, while trying to implement the best times to go after the optional content, such as Hunts and Rare Games. Also included will be an in-depth analysis of each of the twelve job classes, looking at their pros and cons, as well as which characters are best suited to each one. Although not every single treasure will be listed, the ones with the most important items and pieces of equipment will be shared. Basically, this will be your one-stop encyclopedia for pretty much everything related to Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
