Hunter’s Gathering is a small outpost that can be found west of the Valleymeet Hunting Grounds, which is northwest of Mother’s Crown on the map. Talk to Lubavad, who tells you a caravan is on a dangerous route without any explosive arrows to help defend it. He hands over the ammunition needed, so take the road heading southeast out of the outpost and follow it straight east until it starts to curve north.

You’ll eventually pass by some destroyed Watchers and just north of them will be the broken down caravan, with two humans, one of which is Marzavid. Talk to him and hand over the explosive arrows, then get ready for what might be a new Machine, a Longleg, and three Watchers. Quickly take out the Watchers while keeping an eye on the Longleg, as it does a leaping attack. Its body is weak to shock, which you might have in the form of your Tripcaster or a War Bow.

The Longleg has a sac on the front of its body, too, which is weak against everything, and its antenna on its head is weak to tear (you might not have the Carja Sharpshot bow yet, which has Tearblast Arrows). The power cell on its back is weak to both shock and tear, but if you hit it with something like a shock arrow, then it will explode, similar to Blaze Canisters when hit with a fire arrow. In addition to its leaping attack, the Longleg can also do something similar that sprays fire along the ground.

Hitting the Longleg on its sac will cause a tear-based explosion (left). The Stalker is notorious for hiding with its cloak on (right).

One last attack it can do is a sonic screech-type of scream, but blowing up the sac on the front of its body will disable that. After bringing down the Longleg, four Scrappers will show up to replace it. You should be more than familiar enough with these, but utilizing the Tripcaster with the Shock Wires will make the battle very easy. When the coast is clear, speak with Marzavid again to find out some of the cargo is missing, and it’s likely this Dirid fellow who took off when things got hairy.

Look for the trail with your Focus, then highlight it and follow it east. You’ll find Dirid not too far from the spot of the Machine ambush from before, so go up and talk to him. Unfortunately, while in the middle of your little conversation, he is shot and another new Machine makes an appearance, the Stalker. This thing is a pain in the butt, as it will cloak itself and make it seem mostly invisible (there’s a very faint aura you might be able to see).

Keep your eyes peeled for this faint outline and try to hide in some of the nearby tall grass. If you manage to get back to the point where you can hide, the Stalker will take potshots with its dart gun. Shock works wonders on it, if only because if you fill the meter, then it will be stunned and won’t be able to cloak or move around. Its stealth generator is on the back of its front leg and in addition to the dart gun (on its shoulder), it can also drop mines (located on back leg). The agile beast does also have a melee attack, which you might not know is coming. Once the thing is dead, check up on Dirid, loot the Songcores, then return them to Marzavid to finish.
