Stygian Zinogre

By
Vincent Lau

When Zinogre took a trip to the underworld and back, it sold its soul in the process and this is what it has become, the king of all hellhounds. Actually, I’m just kidding. Stygian Zinogre, instead of thunder, wields dragon element attacks and will inflict Dragonblight. Bring Nulberries. Stygian Zinogre will charge faster, takes more damage to flinch, and has numerous new attacks to make it a nightmare for the unprepared.

**Area** **Start** **Roam** **Rest**
Frozen Seaway 4 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 4
Volcanic Hollow 8 1, 6, 7 2
Heaven’s Mount 6 1, 5 7

Attacks

Stygian Zinogre possesses, naturally, every most every attack known to Zinogre, and adds in a few tricks of its own to make the fight ever more difficult (but fun!).

Stygian Zinogre will charge up faster and goes into rage mode once fully charged far more often than Zinogre will. In addition, it takes much more damage to flinch Stygian Zinogre out of its fully charged mode. Stygian Zinogre when enraged will be constantly using the breakdance attack to end every single one of its combo chains. While hugging close to Zinogre may have worked, you cannot be close to Stygian Zinogre all the time or its breakdance will consistently cause you grief.

Charging Swagger: Stygian Zinogre will walk around slowly. That’s it. What makes this walk so deadly is the fact that Stygian will release dragon-thunder around it in random locations, making it impossible to get close unless you are a Gunner. In addition, Stygian is charging as it walks.

Homing Dragon Balls: Unlike the arcing thunder balls released by Zinogre that would home in towards you the moment they were released, Stygian Zinogre’s dragon balls will hover in the air for a few seconds and then go zooming at their targets. Keep an eye out for them as you keep tabs on Stygian Zinogre.

Breakable Parts

Stygian Zinogre shares all the breakable parts with Zinogre.

Weaknesses

Elemental: Thunder, Water

Status: Stygian Zinogre is especially weak to Blast.
