This route is mostly water-bound, so you’ll be using Surf a lot. Head south and take on the first trainer of the area, a Swimmer. No surprise there!

Continue south through the gap, then head south-east before you need to double back and continue west. You’ll be stopped by a second Swimmer.

You can now continue west, or move south through the small gap. It’s assumed that you’ll head west (don’t worry, we’ll still do everything in the area). Continue following the path west until it veers to the south. Keep following it and you’ll find another Swimmer.

Let’s first follow the path leading south. You’ll eventually reach the beach. Hop onto it then move over to the Black Belt. Take him on.

Trainer Battle: Black Belt

Pokemon Level Type
"Crustle" IconCrustle 47 Bug/Rock

Head into the water to the Black Belt’s north-east and waddle over to the shallows with the item on it. Hop onto the shallows and grab the item, which turns out to be a Big Pearl . Move to the north edge of the shallows and use Surf to cross the water there. Head east, then south down to the last of the Swimmers.

Head south-east until you reach the shore. Jump onto the beach and follow it west. You’ll reach a Doctor standing next to the entrance to Seaside Cave. Move towards him and prepare for battle.

Trainer Battle: Doctor

Pokemon Level Type
"Alomomola" IconAlomomola 47 Water

When your Pokemon are exhausted from trekking through Seaside Cave, you can leave the cave and seek the Doctor’s help.

After battling him, he’ll heal all of your Pokemon ! You can talk to him at any time to have him heal your Pokemon from now on. There’s a small gap in the trees to your west that you can move through. Do so and you’ll appear next to a Fisherman. Move up and battle him, the final trainer of the route.

Trainer Battle: Fisherman

Pokemon Level Type

Head south from the Fisherman to find a PP Up . That’s it for Route 21. Head back to the Doctor, heal your Pokemon then head into Seaside Cave through the entrance next to him.
