The Authoring Specialty skill is unlocked by completing Welch’s eighth quest, Behavioral Study . The biggest advantage of Authoring is that you are able to make skill books from it, which is extremely helpful in leveling up your characters’ skills. You are also able to make Signet Cards from this skill, which are items you can use in battle with anyone to cast spells. While it might not be useful to create the offensive spells, having a nice stock of healing ones could prove to be important when you’re in a pinch.
