Chapter 5: This is Our Coup de Gravy

The Kaiser's Escape

A Moment of Peace

Success! You finally managed to stop the kaiser in his tracks. At the same time, his true identity is revealed. Pfft, how comes a little mask is all you ever need to fool people? In any case, enjoy the sweet victory while you can because it’ll be very short-lived.

Just after the peace treaty between the Duchy of Eternia and the Crystal Orthodoxy is signed, there’s trouble. Despite being safely contained behind bars, the kaiser has somehow managed to escape. Well, that was smart. Hurry and exit the Sanctum to the south east.

Treasure Time : Halfway along the corridor, you ought to notice a shiny object on the floor. Pick it up to discover it’s the coveted Chest Key ! Now you can open all the blue locked chests found in the various dungeons.

Recommendation : There are a lot of chests to find, but not all of them are vital to progression. However the Doujigiri-Yasutsuna found in the Geyser Grotto is extremely useful to have. It’s one of the few weapons effective against humanoids and great for fighting the asterisk holders.

Outside, continue eastwards past the Magics store and Armory along the upper streets. Immediately afterwards, you’ll be forced to fight Bella and Cu Chulainn so make you’re once again prepared for battle before giving chase.

Boss: Bella and Cu Chulainn

Boss Level HP Weakness
Cu Chulainn 47 50000 Lightning
Bella 47 40000 Nothing
Well, well, it's the mistress and servant yet again. By this stage, you should know the Wizard and Charioteer jobs inside out. Cu likes to use Trample, which deals more HP when he has high HP, or Triple Wield to unleash three attacks on one.

Bella can cast Spirit Wall on herself or Cu to make physical hit on the target inflict non-elemental magic on the attacker, Spirit Rain to randomly pelt the party with non-elemental magic or Spirit Mist to gradually damage the party for 3 turns.

Just like the Frozen Hollows battle, focus on Bella first she’s frail and has less HP. If she casts Mist, use your own Mist to override hers. For example, you could cast Physical Ward or Mystic Ward Mist to improve your defences or Benediction Mist for healing.

If Bella uses Wall on herself, switch your focus to Cu unless you’ve got a way to pierce her impressive magic defence. The Charioteer is weak to lightning, so the Hawkeye’s Thunderhead or lightning magic will do good damage to him.

After Cu’s HP drops to critical levels, he may use Wanton Destruction to unleash random hits on the party. Doing so will leave him immobile for two turns, giving you ample time to patch up your party and finish him off in time for supper.

New Plan of Action

So our heroes came all this way and still managed to let the kaiser escape? Oh well, that’s how things roll sometimes. On the plus side, the kaiser’s plans are all out in the open and our heroes have managed to reunite all of their companions to create the ultimate anti-kaiser alliance.

Your next objective is to beat the kaiser to the Compass of Space and Time. As soon as you’re ready to depart on a new adventure, exit the Sanctum and leave fair Gathelatio towards the Harena Sea Caves. Remember that you can use the Rubadub’s Auto-Pilot to travel there in seconds.

Note : Just like Bella and Cu, you’ll find that all of the enemies on the world map and in previous dungeons are much stronger and roughly on par with your characters. Hey, it’d be pretty boring if there was no challenge, right?
