The Hero of Will (Part 1)

When you regain control following the previous quest, you should note that now is a good time to upgrade your current items, complete some side-missions and to do some exploring if you like.

Note: The enemies in this next mission (and from now on) are going to be a little tougher, so it is a good idea to pick up some new weapons and complete a couple of side-missions to earn some experience points to level up some of your hero’s abilities to take the edge off the difficulty!

Note: The following side-quests are now currently available:

  • Donating to the Light in Oakfield.
  • Temple of Shadows in Rookridge.
  • The Summoners in Bowerstone Cemetary.

When you are ready to continue with the main quest, use fast travel to teleport to the Hero’s Guild. After a quick conversation with your friends, we’ll get a new task.

Use the Cullis Gate to return to Bower Lake and follow the golden breadcrumb trail to make your way into the next area - Brightwood.

Use the Cullis Gate to leave the Hero's Guild (left) and then make your way to Brightwood (right).

Once you arrive in Brightwood, you should be able to make out a large structure in the distance. That is Brightwood Tower and it’s our target. For now, all we need to do is follow the trail of gold to reach it. You’ll encounter a group of hobbes or two as you go, but they are your fairly standard varieties and shouldn’t prove too difficult.

As you arrive outside the tower, you will be attacked by two groups of Spire guards. The spire guards are similar to the standard bandits and come in melee and ranged flavours. They have a significant boost to their armour and will take a lot of hits in order to take down. Worst of all, their weapon damage is also greatly increased over the regular bandits and they attack in similar numbers. As such, unless you have upgraded your abilities and weaponry somewhat, these first few encounters will be pretty tough!

Meet the Spire guards... And then kill them!

Defeat them and continue up the stairs and into Brightwood Tower itself. Inside, fight off the first two Spire guards, grab the chest sitting at the base of the stairs and when you are good to continue, climb up the stairs to encounter some more enemies on a rooftop platform. You will need to fight off several waves of those pesky Spire guards here.

When the enemies have stopped appearing, work your way across the rooftop and enter the open doorway on the far side of the area.

Climb the stairs to watch a scene. This will end the quest.
