Side-Quests Walkthrough

Cold Comfort Farmer

Note: This side-quest is first available when you visit Westcliff for the first time.

Note: Both this side-quest and the side-quest 'Red Harvest' revolve around the same characters. As such it is impossible to complete both of these in a single playthrough.

Important: This is a missable quest and you need to complete it BEFORE you depart for the Spire during the main questline.

Set this one as your active quest and enter Brightwood. Follow the golden trail to find farmer Giles’s house. Knock on the door and have a chat with him. He will ask you to go to the bandit camp nearby and to eliminate Ripper and his men. Follow the gold dust along the path, you will be ambushed twice by a group of 6-7 bandits, eliminate them in both instances and continue until you reach a wooden gate.

Head into the bandit camp and you will be set upon by 18-20 bandits. Fortunately they will come at you in groups of 2 or 3, so continue to fight them off until they stop coming. Once they are all dealt with, you will hear Ripper say he will handle you himself.

Enter the bandit camp and killl all of its inhabitants to fight Ripper.

When Ripper shows up, you’ll discover that he is very similar to Thag and other bandit leaders we have fought in the past. His only real strength is his increased armour and attack power. However if you go to town on him for long enough, eventually he will surrender. You will be given two options - Kill him or spare him for 30 +/- morality points.

Choose either option to complete the mission.

Note: for completing this quest you will earn the following reward/s:

  • Renown: 750
  • Follow-on quest 'Blind Date'.
