Downloadable Content

Even the title screen changes!

Fantasy Life is a big game, but you can make it even bigger by purchasing the Origin Island Expansion Pack . This chunk of downloadable content (DLC) extends the game experience by adding the following:

Origin Island : A new area consisting of multiple sub-areas, plus new monsters, items and two Story Quests to go along with it.

God rank : A Life rank above Legend with new skills, recipes and awesome God skill. Legend now becomes God-in-Training and you will receive new Challenges on your way to godhood.

Special Requests : Your Life Masters will give you a brand new challenge and join your party when you’re a God. These challenges are the toughest you’ll experience.

Lunares Coins : These can be exchanged for rare and useful items, not available anywhere else in the game. Can be obtained by completing Special Requests and new Pam’s Requests.

Ally Friendship : You can now increase the Friendship of each Ally, by keeping them in your party and having fun. Allies with higher Friendship will be stronger and perform better.

Avatar (Re)Customisation : When creating your Avatar, more features will be available, such as more hairstyles, more voice options. You can also redo your Avatar after completing the Origin Island story.

The expansion adds many more hours to the core game and is recommended if you foresee yourself playing the game for a long, long time or if you’ve completed the game and desire more…

Purchasing DLC

You can purchase the DLC from the game itself, by going to the " Payable Content " option from the start screen. Note that you must have wireless Internet access, a NNID (Nintendo Network ID) and a means to add eShop credit (such as a credit card or eShop voucher).

If topping up your eShop balance is a fuss, simply proceed with the DLC purchase without the necessary funds. The game will then prompt you to top up the exact amount of money needed to buy the DLC, leaving you with no weird remainder!

Accessing the DLC

DLC is saved to your SD Card, but cannot be transferred to other 3DS consoles.

As soon as you’ve purchased the DLC, wait for it to install. It should take mere moments, since the DLC is already on the cart (gasp).

The next time you load up your game, all the DLC features will be readily available, with the exception of the Origin Island content.

To access Origin Island, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Complete the main story.
  • Recruit Y___ (available after completing the story).
  • Recruit N___ (available after completing the story and reaching Level 45).
  • Reach Level 50.
(Names hidden to prevent spoilers; you should know who they are when you reach that stage.)

Having done all of the above, speak to Y___ in your room when you’re ready to begin the Origin Island storyline. Obviously, if that character is in your party, you’ll need to dismiss him or her.

Limitations of DLC

The DLC is definitely a wise investment if you’re planning to stay in Reveria for the long haul, but there is one important thing you must know.

Players with the DLC cannot play Multiplayer (Local or Online) with players without the DLC.

So if you buy the DLC, you will no longer be able to play with those who don’t have the DLC. We suspect this was done to prevent people from visiting Origin Island or obtaining DLC-exclusive items by playing with people with the DLC and thus avoid spending money.

Secondly, you can still StreetPass people without the DLC, but they cannot receive items from you that are exclusive to the DLC. There is a little loophole though: you can gift non-exclusive items that have been crafted with God Materials.
