People you StreetPass will start invading the streets of Castele.

For the uninitiated, StreetPass is an unique feature of the 3DS (and 2DS) that allows passive exchange of data between 3DS consoles that are running or in sleep mode. Many games use StreetPass in fun ways and Fantasy Life is no exception.

After tagging another Fantasy Life player, you can view that player’s profile and meet their character somewhere in Castele. Besides giving you an opportunity to see what other players are doing, you can also receive gifts from passing players.

Enabling StreetPass

StreetPass communications for Fantasy Life can be activated by speaking to the StreetPass Clerk in the far end of the Castele Guild Office, on the left.

As the clerk helpfully informs you, people you tag can view your profile, which includes your Level, current Life and Life rank, Dosh, Bliss, Stars and play time. So if you’re shy about revealing this information, you can still cancel at this point.

To finish off, you can set a greeting for other people to see, as well as choose an item to gift. Gifting an item will not remove it from your inventory, no matter how many times you tag another player, so relax and pick something nice.

If you need to edit your greeting or gift, speak to the clerk and request to check your profile. In a similar manner, if you decide you want to quit StreetPass, choose the “Stop StreetPass” option when speaking to her.

StreetPass communication automatically runs when your 3DS is powered on or in sleep mode, so long as the wireless switch is on (as indicated by the blinking yellow light near the top-right corner). However it will be disabled if you’re using Local or Internet functions.

To find out if you’ve successfully tagged another player, you can either check your 3DS’s Notifications menu or visit the StreetPass Clerk in the game. A “?” thought bubble will appear over the clerk’s head if new StreetPass data is available.

Successful StreetPass

You’ve got nothing to lose so be sure to gift an item!

Upon tagging another Fantasy Life player, speak to the StreetPass Clerk and you’ll be prompted to check the profiles of the players you’ve passed. At this point, you can view each player’s profile or delete profiles to make space.

After you’re happy with the results, leave the guild office and you can begin to find StreetPass residents throughout Castele, as indicated by blue dots on the bottom screen map. Residents can be found in every area of Castele, even indoors, so happy searching!

Should you find a StreetPass resident, you can talk to them in a bid to increase their Friendship . Friendship starts at 50 and can increase, decrease or stay the same. When the resident’s Friendship reaches the maximum value of 100, they will give you their gift if they have one.

You can only speak with the same resident to improve their Friendship once per interval. Furthemore, you can only receive their gift once, unless you tag them again. The interval is simply the time since you last changed screens, so you can keep changing screens to speak again.
