Tips

This is it! The final stretch before people recognise you as an eccentric Alchemist in the same league as Flamel and Snooze.

For starters, your eyes aren’t deceiving you: a lot of the items you must make can be made as a Master as well (if you did make any, don’t worry because they still count towards your Hero Challenges).

The Philosopher’s Stone is the best accessory (sans DLC), upping all your stats by 5 points.

Beast Tails for the Spraylixir are occasionally dropped by the Crocs who roam the beaches to the north-west of Tortuga Archipelago, while Ultima Alcheweeds are sold by the salesplush in the Levitania Plushling Camp with the Shopping on the Go Bliss Bonus.

Monster Dung for the Great Bombs are sold by the Al Maajik Shady Shop and the Leafes’ store in Elderwood Village. In case you forgot, Black Gels are stocked by the salesplush atop Cacto Cove and Pink Gels from the Lovely Jellings that rarely appear on the beach.

When the time calls to make a Forbidden Flask, you can buy Diamonds from the Levitania salesplush or from Snoot’s Emporium after completing the story (and reaching Level 30). Evil Wings , meanwhile, often drop from the Vampire Bats in the Ancient Ruins.

Where ore or gems are involved, check out the Al Maajik ore store, preferably with Desert Shopping+ to increase their available stock. ****

Magic Ore for the Wild Side Shades is a bit rarer, sold by the merchant in the oasis in the south-east corner of Drysand Desert. Celestial Ingots for the Black Onyx Ring and Diamond Ring are rarer still–these must be crafted by a Master Blacksmith.

Shadow Mana and Light Mana aren’t easy to get either, dropped after defeating Calamitus in the Ancient Ruins and the Lightning Wraith in Central Levitania–bosses for a Master/Hero Magician.

Finally to make the fabled Philosopher’s Stone, you can get King Gel from the Jellking in the Deepsea Cave, an Antenna Lantern by fishing the Deep Sea Lordfish in the same area and an Unknown Life Form from the shadow bosses in the Dark Void.

If all of that wasn’t hard, you also need to increase your Alchemy skill to level 15, which is no mean feat. If you have the DLC and completed the Origin Island story, you can redeem an Alchemist’s Pride from Exchange Clerk in Pam’s house, which doubles your Alchemy skill growth.

Either way, we recommended stocking up on ingredients for a Great Bomb, then churn out as many as you can. Avoid Auto Mode (your Special Skill is OK) and only make the bombs one at a time or your skill growth will be hampered.
