Tips

The materials Expert Blacksmiths use are the most valuable you can get: gold and platinum!

To make gold, you’ll need Al Maajik Gold , which can be purchased wholesale from Al Maajik (no surprise) or mined from the nearby areas, such as the Drysand Desert.

Platinum requires Platinum Ore , found on Mt. Snowpeak’s Summit or bought from the traveling salesplush there (south of where the Napdragon appeared during the story).

For Aquamarines, Marine Thread, Marine Silk, Little Shells and Durable Shells, return to the Port Puerto ore and cloth stalls and the Shady Shop in the pirates’ area (Port Shopping+ required for some items).

Materials aren't always found in one place; try earlier shops too!

As for the other materials, try the market area in the Al Maajik Sandtown, plus the Shady Shop on the opposite end.

We recommend claiming the Desert Shopping+ Bliss Bonus so you can buy Monster Hide from the wood and leather stall, Emeralds and Sapphires from the ore stall and Black Cashmere from the cloth stall.

Rainbow Feathers are dropped rarely by Bigbeak in the West Grassy Plains; this big bird only appears during the day and is quite tough for beginners. The similarly pretty Rainbow Shells can be found on the sands of Nautilus Cave and Cacto Cove.

Sharp Claws are commonly dropped by Pterodactyls in Drysand Desert, while Strong Fangs can be (forcefully) obtained from the Fanged Ape roaming Mt. Snowpeak, just before the entrance to the summit.

Coal-Black Feathers can be plucked from a Hootlum in the Cave of Bones. Meanwhile, Moon Clusters are an uncommon drop from the Hootwink in the Elderwood at night or the Glaciowls on Mt. Snowpeak’s Summit.

Earth Shards for the Captain’s Sword can be mined from the Earth Wingstone in the Subterranean Lake, towards the south-west of the Drysand Desert; they also drop very rarely from the Arachnes there.

Similarly, Fossil Shards can be mined from the Enormous Ancient Fossil in the Cave of Bones, towards the north of the desert, or obtained rarely from the Skeletons.

Finally, the Fir Beam requires a Carpenter to craft it from Fir Logs; the logs themselves can be gathered from the fir trees on Mt. Snowpeak’s Summit or bought from the salesplush.
