Ranking up lets you use new techniques and recipes!

The main draw of the game is the large variety of Life roles that you can jump in and out of. Whether you stick to one Life role for a long time or switch roles constantly, there’s always something new to do on your road to supremacy.

Before we get started with our Life Walkthrough, we’ll quickly revise the key facts you should know.

Advancing Your Career

To progress in your Life, you must collect Stars by completing Challenges unique to your Life. Once you have enough Stars, you will rank up from Fledgling to Apprentice to Adept to Expert and finally to Master.

Or if you choose to reach unprecedented heights, from Master to Hero and finally to Legend (until you get the DLC…).

When you change to a new Life, you must collect a different set of Stars to rank up. Each Life has its own set of Stars, so you can’t earn Stars as a Mercenary and expect them to carry over to your Tailor Life, for example.

Challenges

Challenges are tasks or missions, such as defeat a certain number of a type of monster or collect a certain number of such an item.

Usually, Challenges are obtained automatically when you rank up, but you can also receive additional Challenges from your Life colleagues .

For reference, you don’t need to complete every Challenge to rank up–only enough to get the required amount of Stars. However, to reach Legend rank (the highest rank, DLC not withstanding), you must complete every single Challenge.

Life Colleagues

It pays to speak to your colleagues from time to time.

You’re not the only person in Reveria with a Life; there are some NPCs (non-playable characters) with a Life–or a connection to a Life–too, as indicated by a Life symbol next to their name.

If you share the same Life as one of these NPCs, that makes them your Life Colleague–a friend or rival who’s more than happy to share their wisdom or chat with you.

Just look out for a “?” speech bubble over their head, which means they have something new to say. Whether it’s idle chatter, a freebie, a party invite or a Challenge.

Challenge Rules

Now for the small writing. You can, in fact, complete Challenges out of order; for example, you can complete a Master Challenge as a Fledgling if you really wanted to.

It also doesn’t matter what Life you’re in, unless the Challenge explicitly states it. So if a Challenge asks you to mine 100 ore deposits, you can do this in any Life, unless it says “as a Miner”.
