The Undying—fearsome Cie’th who defy fal’Cie will, driven by an intense loathing of all that lives. The Pillager, Bituitus, is of their number, and it is my fate to seal his. Villages that survived the war remain unsafe, for his path of destruction sweeps through them all. Even my own fell before him. The demon is said to make his fastness in the Paddraean archaeopolis, but he will find no sanctuary from me there.

Location

Activating this mission will clear out the enemies from the Paddraean Archaeopolis, which can help when collecting treasure. Backtrack to the courtyard down the stairs and you will trigger the cutscene and the mob will spawn!

[Left] Bituitus Enemy Intel. [Right] The team square up to Bituitus.

Strategy

Bituitus opens the match with Miasma inflicting the party with status ailments. Bituitus halves all elemental damage and is weak to magic. Bituitus is difficult to Stagger, because of both its high Stagger point and because it halves all elemental attacks. Its ATB charges fairly quickly. It uses an attack called Levinbolt to deal Lightning-elemental damage to the party.

Did You Know? Upon defeat, Bituitus retreats into a crystal cocoon with five smaller crystals around it. Each time you defeat one of "The Undying" marks (7, 12, 27, 30, 34, and 51) one of the Cie’th stones stands up. The cocoon will remain inactive until the party returns for Mission 64, where it turns into superboss Vercingetorix!
