Enemy Encounters

Name Notes
Anavatapta Warmech Not a “true” combat encounter - can be killed before Gestalt Mode expires.
Varcolaci Evades attacks; inflicts Poison but can be killed in seconds.
Bulwarker Only dangerous if it summons Targeting Beacon to perform Orbital Battery.
Targeting Beacon Summoned by Bulwarker; does not attack; destroy to stop Bulwarker’s Orbital Battery.
Corps Defender Very low HP for this stage of the game; merely acts a cannon fodder in minor encounters.
Corps Steward Ice and Water damage halved but weak to Fire.
Sanctum Archangel Uses Guard to increase damage resistance; surprisingly powerful attacks.
Adamantheron Can bestow Haste and Bravery.
Sanctum Seraph Can bestow Bravery.
Behemoth King HP gauge restored when it stands up like all Behemoth enemies.
Orobon Power Spritz gives it status enhancements; still rather slow to kill.
Amphisbaena Immune to Earth damage but weak to Lightning and Wind; resistant to Magic; high HP and assorted status immunities.
Proto-behemoth Fire/Lightning damage halved but weak to Ice/Water; can change its form, regenerating HP and increasing attack when it does.
The Proudclad Elemental damage halved; immune to all status ailments.

Lightning faces the Anavatapta Warmech (left) and the gang discuss their future (right).

Enjoy the prolonged cutscenes and especially the l’Cie’s re-entry into Cocoon. Lightning summons Odin and charges into battle against another mech but this isn’t strictly a true combat encounter. Simply mash any button to attack it then finish it off with a Zantetzuken. More cutscenes will follow until you find yourself in Eden proper.

This area is a maze-like grid of walkways but heading for the target marker should allow you to find your way easy enough. A couple of Varcolaci sweep the skies for victims just ahead but blast through them and continue following the waypoint. Near the trio of Varcolaci, in front of an orange flower, is a Sphere holding the Lionheart (weapon for Lightning that allows instant Stagger near the threshold and can be synthesized to gain the Random Instant Chain ability).

Lionheart location (left) and the 9,240 Gil location (right).

Flying in circles is a Bulwarker near a circular platform. These are only dangerous if they summon the Targeting Beacon which allows them to do their deadly Orbital Battery attack.

Look directly right from the circular platform (facing the waypoint marker) to find another Sphere containing 9,240 Gil then continue following the marker to reach a new area.

Six people, from very different backgrounds, get thrown together in a series of tumultuous events. A Pulse fal’Cie (a demi-god) has been found in the seaside town of Bodhum, a place where the fates of everyone converge and the discovery sets in motion a chain of events that will change the world forever. An innocent fireworks display in the town soon turns nasty when government soldiers storm the peaceful celebration and commit everyone to the Purge (sending individuals “contaminated” by the Pulse fal’Cie into exile). This is where your story and legend begins. Can you fight fate?
