Beating the Reaper awards you with The Motherlode Key Item, an item which opens up the eighth shop at the Save Point. Return to the Save Point and save your game, then switch the ATB to slow. As for the equipment and Paradigms, no changes necessary. Oh yes, a certain enemy group has now changed its composition - if you take the left path at the fork with the Save Point you can no longer access the group of five Metrodroids.

Keep the same setups from the last battle. Have Sazh stick Haste, Shell and Protect on both characters, while Vanille tosses Deprotect, Deshell and Imperil on Brynhildr. The Summon chains lots of attacks into a nice stream for about 300-400 damage, and also has Area of Effect attacks. The Drive gauge will increase the most as you attack the summon with various elements (except fire, which it absorbs). If healing is needed, bust out Potions or setup or . With the ATB set to slow you’ll have ample time to acquire Brynhildr with Square/X once the Gestalt gauge is full.
You’ll obtain the Brynhildr Eidolith Key Item after the battle. Sazh’s ATB will increase by one segment, bringing his total to 4. At the start of the next chapter you will unlock the Trophy /Achievement Instrument of Wrath.
