Driving to the Disc

By
Jarrod Garripoli
&
Nathan Garvin

The chapter will begin with you driving the Regalia, following the mysterious Ardyn to the Disc. As Ardyn so kindly puts it, you cannot lose sight of him and his car, or else the game will end, which is further ingrained into your mind by the red warning on the right side of the screen. It should be fairly easy to keep him in front of you at all times, including whenever he turns. Eventually, you’ll reach Coernix Station - Cauthess, where Ardyn will decide to take a break from the sudden road trip. Take him up on his offer to rest and assign the experience you’ve gathered to this point.

Objective Reward
For following Ardyn to the Coernix Station - Cauthess outpost EXP 500

When you wake up in the morning head over to a group of people listening to Luna speak over the radio. Endure the tepid speech she gives, then interact with one of the men to “Listen”, which trigger a scene of Luna using her healing powers. After the scene you’ll have to put up with some banter. What’s the point of all this? Well, it clears a side quest marker off your map, for what that’s worth.

Your goal now is to talk to Ardyn, but note that if you do, you won’t get a chance to explore again until after you finish this chapter. If you’ve done all the side quests listed previously you should be more than ready to move on. If not, considering making use of this freedom while you have the chance, especially if you had any difficulty clearing the last dungeon.

Make sure to keep up with Ardyn’s car (left) or you’ll fail the mission. Eventually you’ll pull up to the gates of the Disc (right) where Ardyn will leave you.

When you’ve finished tying up any loose ends, speak with Ardyn and agree to set out on your journey to the Disc again. Once again, you’ll need to keep up with Ardyn, or else the game will end. As before, it is very easy to keep an eye on him, so you shouldn’t have any trouble. Along the way you’ll be treated to a bit of much-needed lore about the Disc, and more than a bit of obvious foreshadowing. Once you reach the front gate of the Disc, the quest “Onward to the Disc” will end.

Objective Reward
For following Ardyn to the Disc of Cauthess EXP 500

After a years-long cold war between the Kingdom of Lucis and the empire of Niflheim over the world’s last crystal, an armistice is finally agreed upon. As part of the peace treaty, the heir to the Lucian throne Noctis Lucis Caelum is to marry Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, an oracle from the imperial province of Tenebrae. After Noctis sets out to meet his betrothed, the treaty collapses. Merely a ruse to bring down the magical barrier protecting Lucis, Niflheim invades and takes the kingdom and the crystal for itself. With the treaty in tatters and his father and betrothed believed dead, Noctis must rely on his own tenacity and the support of his band of loyal followers to get him through what is to come.
