Dead Dunes

Part 1

Flower In The Sands

Difficulty 2*
Availability From Day 1
Quest Item(s) Needed Desert Rose
Gil Obtained 700
Item(s) Obtained PSICOM Air Medal
HP +20
Strength +1
Magic +2

You must defeat an Earth Eater to obtain a Desert Rose. These guys are the most powerful non-unique enemies in the game so you won’t have a chance of defeating one early in the game. Not until you are significantly strengthened from Day 6 or so (after completing pretty much all side quests) will you have a chance against one.

Biologically Speaking

Difficulty 1*
Availability From Day 1
Quest Item(s) Needed Dried Scale x 3
Gil Obtained 200
Item(s) Obtained Long Gui's Shell
HP +10
Strength +1

Fight the Desert Sahagin to acquire Dried Scales. These aren’t too tough to beat either.

Banned Goods

Difficulty 1*
Availability From Day 1
Quest Item(s) Needed Goblot Hairball x 8
Gil Obtained 240
Item(s) Obtained Lebreau's Rainbow Tattoo, Tribal Tattoo
HP +10
Strength +1

Goblots are found all over the Dead Dunes and you will easily gain enough Hairballs while exploring the Dunes.

Desert Cleanup

Difficulty 3*
Availability Complete "Flower in the Sands" and "Biologically Speaking" Canvas quests
Quest Item(s) Needed Desert Rose x 10, Dried Scale x 30
Gil Obtained 1700
Item(s) Obtained Crystal Petal, Ether
HP +40
Strength +
Magic +2

Day 6 onwards is the most realistic time you can expect to kill enough Earth Eaters. Dried Scales will be acquired in sufficient numbers during your adventures through the Dunes anyway.

Lucky Charm

Difficulty 1*
Availability Visit Yusnaan once
Quest Item(s) Needed Lizard Tail x 3
Gil Obtained 400
Item(s) Obtained Pumpkin Head
HP +10
Strength +1

Lizards are found scattered around the Dunes. These little guys don’t require a full on battle to kill; simply swipe your sword at them and they will keel over and die. When they do, they drop either a Lizard Tail or an Unappraised Item.

A New Application

Difficulty 2*
Availability Complete "Family Food" side quest in Yusnaan.
Quest Item(s) Needed Lizard Tail x 20
Gil Obtained 1600
Item(s) Obtained Craftman's Beard, Regent's Mustache
HP +20
Strength +2
Magic +1

If you kill every Lizard you see while wandering the Dunes, you should easily get enough Tails fairly quickly.

Supply and Demand

Difficulty 1*
Availability Complete "Lucky Charm" Canvas quest
Quest Item(s) Needed Lizard Tail x 5
Gil Obtained 800
Item(s) Obtained Dandy's Mustache, Servant's Mustache
HP +10
Magic +2

After exploring the Dunes, you should have well over 30 Lizard Tails so 5 more should not be a problem.

Pride and Greed I

Difficulty 1*
Availability From Day 3
Quest Item(s) Needed Yellowed Skull x 3
Gil Obtained 300
Item(s) Obtained Commissioned Pilot's Badge, PSICOM Medic Medal
HP +10
Magic +!

Yellowed Skulls are dropped from the Skeleton statues inside the Temple Ruins in the Dead Dunes. They drop a load of them so just smash them up.

For My Child

Difficulty 3*
Availability From Day 3
Quest Item(s) Needed Cactuar Doll
Gil Obtained 500
Item(s) Obtained Cactuar Figurine, Mint Chip Ice Cream
HP +20
Magic +3

You can either kill Cactuar found in the Dunes above ground or Cactair, who is a quest monster for chapter 5. Cactuars are easiest to catch at the Oasis Lighthouse area because you can corner them and initiate battle from there. Other than that, they are super hard to catch.
