Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Guide Guide info

Chapter 1 Main Missions

M4 - C2W

Warning: If you wish to complete this mission the intended way, developing C4 at Mother Base is essential. You will require three of them.

Obtainable Skills/Blueprints
Gunsmith (Shotguns), Rescuer
# Mission Task Mandatory/Optional
1 Identified the comms equipment at the Eastern Communications Post. Optional
2 Destroyed the comms equipment at the Eastern Communications Post. Mandatory (see note below)
3 Secured the rough diamonds hidden near the Eastern Communications Post. Optional
4 Destroyed the transmitter at the Eastern Communications Post. Mandatory (see note below)
5 Extracted 2 prisoners being held at Wialo Village. Optional
6 Extracted the materials container from the Eastern Communications Post. Optional

Note: You are only required to finish one of the two Mandatory tasks listed above, with the other one becoming optional. It doesn’t matter which one you do.

Buddy Alert - There is a chance to acquire a new friend at the start of this mission. As soon as you land at the LZ, you will hear a little whine. Look around nearby to find a small puppy and Miller will then ask what you wish to do with him. Extract him to have him eventually grow into a buddy which you can take on later missions.

At the beginning of the mission, head to the first yellow waypoint for a short scene of Big Boss downloading some information, then you will be able to go for the comms equipment. Kaz wants you to go to the Eastern Communications Post, with your first goal being to identity the equipment you need to destroy. There will be three satellite dishes on top of the small buildings in the area.

This building in front here (left) houses the communications hub. Go inside and plant some C4 (right) then detonate from a safe distance.

All three are on the roof of small buildings or the canopy-looking structures, easily denoted by a glowing blue light nearby. Mark them as if they were enemy guards and then head to each one, planting a C4 at the base of each. Once you do that, head somewhere safe and out away from the compound, then detonate each of the C4. As long as you’re somewhere far away, the enemies will be distracted and you can just run to the end of the hot zone.

There is also another method to shutdown the communications which is the easiest method to use for an S Rank. Inside one of the buildings is the control panel for the communications between the guard outposts. This is located in the middle of the compound, so it’s not easy to get there undetected (you can use your binoculars to locate the correct building). If you manage to do that, all you have to do is shoot the radio (or plant C4 when you have it) to complete the mission but be aware that you will need a machine gun and the noise will draw attention to the scene. If you use the C4 however, you can detonate it and the guards will be too distracted to notice you making your escape.

Mission Task 3

The diamonds are located on some rocks to the south of the outpost, via the hidden path that is accessible by climbing the cracked wall. If you’re having trouble finding it, look directly west of the Wormwood on the hidden path.

Mission Task 5

The two prisoners at Wialo are in the southern section of the village, not together, but fairly close and inside buildings. Clear the area of enemies, then sneak into both places, carry the prisoner outside, then extract them.

The diamonds can be a little tough to find, but they are on a rock on the hidden path to the outpost.

Mission Task 6

You will need the Cargo 2 Fulton upgrade before you can extract the big containers. There are two of them at the outpost, but either one will complete the task.
