Side Ops 141-150

By
Jarrod Garripoli

141 - Eliminate the Wandering Puppets 14

As usual, the puppets are usually inside of the buildings, but they are small enough that it’s easy to lure them out into the open. This makes it much easier to extract them, as you won’t be required to carry them outside. Some of them are in riot suits, so you’ll need to use CQC on them to stun them.

142 - Eliminate the Wandering Puppets 15

This is the final Wandering Puppets Side Ops and there’s nothing different from the previous ones, except that all of them will be in riot suits. So, you’ll need to use CQC on them to knock them unconscious, after which, you can extract them. Of course, you can always kill them, but they are amongst the easiest enemies you’ll face in the game, so why not beef up your Mother Base.

143 - Extract the AI Pod (Important)

Kaz wants some dirt on Emmerich and asks you to retrieve the AI pod from Afghanistan Central Base Camp. Of course, there will be plenty of enemies here, although given the size of the base, you shouldn’t have too much trouble infiltrating it. You will find the AI Pod inside of the eastern big building, which has a few entrances (marked by a blue light next to it). Once inside, head to the computer, which should now be highlighted with a yellow marker, and Big Boss will automatically send the big pod blasting off (with no guards being alerted), finishing the Side Ops.

The AI Pod can be found in the larger eastern building (left). Approach the computer inside to access the Pod and a cutscene (right).

144 - Secure the Remains of the Man on Fire (Important)

The Soviets have taken the Man on Fire’s remains and moved them to Yakho Oboo Supply Outpost. As you know by now, this place has quite a number of enemies in it, and the remains are located in the big, open area in the middle. So, you’ll want to at least take out all of the enemies that are in the open area, as well as any others that might get in your way. Once the path is clear, find and inspect the body to view a cutscene, which brings you to the end of the Side Ops.

The remains are in the middle of this compound (left) but security is tight. They are laid out next to a coffin (right).

145 - Search for the Escaped Children 01 (Important)

There is a gunship patrolling the skies at Mfinda Oilfield, meaning you’ll likely want to take care of it before heading inside of the area. Using a rocket launcher is loud and might make the enemies find out your location, but you can also use a silenced sniper rifle (the M2000-D will do nicely). If you use the latter, get into a crawling position and as soon as you hit the chopper, quickly roll or crawl to another position. Keep doing this until the chopper goes down.

As far as the child goes, you will find him inside of a building on the southeast side of the oilfield. This is good news for you, as that means you don’t have to mess with a majority of the enemies inside of the area. While taking out any enemies in the vicinity of the child, you’ll want to be careful of the patrolling enemy vehicle that will periodically show up at the base. Once you have the child, extract him by helicopter or Fulton to finish.

146 - Search for the Escaped Children 02 (Important)

This child is located inside the mansion in Lufwa Valley, which has a lot of enemies. It will be tricky to do this without being spotted, but it is possible if you take your time and try to Fulton everyone as soon as possible to get them out of your way permanently. Start by going around the perimeter and taking out all of the enemies stationed outside.

There are two extra sets you’ll want to watch out for here, including a patrolling vehicle and two soldiers that come from the south. Once the outside is clear, you will want to head inside, which is the hardest part. The northern entrance will put you on the first floor, while the southern one will put you closer to the child’s location. Take it slow and kill/tranquilize enemies as you come to them, then carry the child outside for extraction.

147 - Search for the Escaped Children 03 (Important)

The first thing you’ll notice as you get close to Aabe Shifap Ruins is that there aren’t any normal enemies. You see, the child is at the top of a tower and the only enemies you’ll find around the place are two bears roaming about. You might not even have to worry about the bears, since they might not be even near the tower. There is a crack you can climb on the one side that will bring you up to the kid, who you might need to maneuver a bit before you can extract him.

148 - Search for the Escape Children 04 (Important)

This kid is located at Lamar Khaate Palace, on an upper floor on the south side of the main building. The inside of the palace can be quite confusing, but there are stairs that lead to the second floor on the south side, but to get to the third floor, you’ll have to venture north to find more stairs. Once on the third floor, you’ll need to navigate the walkways to reach the child. Drop down with him and carry him to a safe place for extraction.

Sometimes, the children are being guarded by something other than soldiers (left). D-Dog is great for finding the childen’s locations (right).

149 - Search for the Escape Children 05 (Important)

Head for Smasei Ruins and you’ll notice there are no enemies in the open area outside. Hmm, that is definitely weird. If you brought D-Dog along, you’ll see him pinging enemies in the northern part of the cave system and looking at them will pinpoint the problem…they are puppet soldiers! That means you don’t need to worry about being stealthy, so head up there and shoot them in the head until you get to the child. Bring him outside for extraction.

150 - Secure Quiet (Important)

There isn’t really much to this Side Ops, so head to the highlighted zone and find the guard post there. There’s the normal amount of enemies here, plus a sniper on the other side of the road. Your target is the building on the one side with more enemies. Head inside of it and you won’t find anything except for an intel file on the desk. Check it to lead straight into Mission 45.
