Last updated 1 month ago · Guide Information
Weapon Types

Dual Blades

Damage Type: Cut

Reach: Short

Speed: Fast

Average Damage Per Hit: ** (*** in Archdemon Mode)

Description

Dual Blades exchange the shield from the Sword and Shield combo for a second blade, sacrificing the ability to block for faster and increased damage dealing capabilities. Dual Blade wielders can enter Demon Mode or Archdemon Mode to further increase their damage output.

Moves

**Button** **Attack** **Notes**
Forward + X Draw Slash -
X Double Slash Combo x 3
B Evade (Demon Mode: Demon Dodge) -
A Double Cut (Demon Mode: Rotor Slash) Combo x 2 (Combo x 3 in Demon Mode)
R Demon Mode -
A + X Butterfly Slash (Demon Mode: Blade Dance) (Archdemon Mode: Demon Flurry) Demon/Archdemon variants ignore armor.

Notes:

Dealing enough damage while in Demon mode enables Archdemon mode. Archdemon mode allows the use of the slick Demon Dodge and boosts attack speed without eating Stamina.

Usage Tips

Bring the Juice, and the Meat : Dash Juice and Cooked Meat, two very important items for any Dual Blade player. Dash will ensure a period of uninterrupted demon mode through unlimited stamina, while Meat will keep your stamina bar longer for when the Juice runs out.

Unleash the Demon Carefully : Demon mode is a drain on your stamina and the biggest issue with this is that leaving it turned on, and draining your stamina bar completely, renders you unable to dodge – that’s bad.

Make sure you use Demon mode in short bursts. If anything it’s a good idea to build your demon gauge by beating up smaller creatures every now and then.

Be Careful with the Dash : Activating Archdemon mode is important to keeping your dual blade damage high for a long time, and the Dash is a technique that drains a chunk.

Use Dashes to move away from attacks, but avoid using them to pursue a target as it will drain stamina that could be better put to dealing damage. Holstering and running is a better choice.

Recommended Skills

A great skill to have for any Dual Blade user is Marathon Runner as it reduces the drain on your stamina bar.

Speaking of stamina, something like Stam Recov Up is a worthwhile skill as it will top your bar up quicker.

Earplugs are worthwhile, as you’d expect. Weapons that have effects such as Demon mode are a glutton for punishment should a monster roar upon activation, enable earplugs and you won’t find yourself in such a situation.

Sharpening Skills are worthwhile, too, as the Dual Blades have a habit of finding themselves blunt with alarming regularity.

Speaking of which, Minds Eye is a good bet if you don’t want to have to break off to sharpen as often.
