Glavenus , the champion of the “elite four” of the flagship monsters in this game, is quite the force to reckon with. Unlike other Brute Wyverns, Glavenus is fast and agile. And most uniquely, it makes great use of its tail. Thus both of its ends are equally dangerous, making Glavenus very hard to corner. And due to Glavenus’s high speed when it is throwing its tail around, it makes proper position all but impossible to maintain.

When Glavenus’s tail lights up, that is when it can be cut. When Glavenus’s tail is lit, that is because Glavenus has been sharpening it or otherwise dragging it across the ground to generate an enormous amount of heat through friction. Glavenus’s tail, if cut, will land pointy-tip in on the ground, instead of laying on the ground. Neat touch. When Glavenus’s tail hardens and cools off it will turn a rusty black color, and you will have to wait for Glavenus to light it up again.

Sometimes, Glavenus’s throat will turn a bright red. Attacking it while its throat is heated up enough will cause it to flinch and drop a shiny, which will usually be the otherwise difficult to procure Flaming Bursa (in Low Rank) or Solar Bursa (in High Rank).

Glavenus is weakest to Water and then Dragon .

Attack Explanation
Side Chomp Glavenus will lunge forward and bite at you, and sometimes will have fire accompanying. When enraged, Glavenus might perform this attack twice quickly in succession!
Tail Fling Glavenus will leap into the air and slam its tail in the ground. In rage mode, this attack is performed twice. Has enormous range and causes Glavenus to move around quite a bit.
Fireball Glavenus will literally breathe fire and incinerate whatever is in front of it.
180 Tailspin Glavenus will do a half-revolution and as it does so, it will whip out its tail. This causes Fireblight if its tail is alit.
Tail Sharpen Glavenus will run its tail through its mouth, then do a very wide-range 360 spin which sends fire up everywhere. Stay as far away as you can, the range is absolutely massive, or position yourself right underneath Glavenus’s belly or between its legs for maximum safety.
Pounce Glavenus will sometimes (not very commonly) leap forward and then bite at you.
