Monster Hunter Generations

Palico Skills

By
Vincent Lau

Palico Skills.

Instead of skills being tied to armor, Palicos come recruited with random types of skills. Some require conditions to unlock that you can check on the Palico Board. You can teach one skill to other Palicos at maximum making skills slightly customizable and not so set in stone. This gives you a lot more freedom with skill-planning and gear-planning since the two don’t conflict.

When you go to the skill page of the Palicos and are setting skills on the Palico Board, you will notice that each Palico has blank circles. Some might have three, others four, and others more. This varies depending on their level. These blank circles indicate the maximum cost you have available to dedicate to skills. If you look at the skill list, you’ll notice that the skill names have colored circles by them. For example, Negate Confusion has two blue circles, and Support Boost has two yellow circles. The color indicates the category the skill belongs to and is purely informational. But the number of circles indicates how much that specific skill costs.

If your cat has four circles available, you can equip Negate Confusion and Support Boost and that’s it, you have filled out your cost. Manage your skills carefully and select which ones are the most effective. If your Palico is supporting you, or if your Palico is to be a Prowler, you’ll want different sets of skills.
