Pokemon can be afflicted by a variety of status afflictions during battle. Most of the time, status afflictions are caused by a Pokemon’s moves, whether as a primary or secondary effect; for example, the move Thunder Wave causes paralysis.
As you might expect, status afflictions negatively affect the Pokemon and can potentially even cripple their performance. However, just like they can be caused, afflictions can be cured, by using certain items, by playing in Pokemon Refresh or by paying a visit to a friendly Pokemon Centre.
|Burn||The Pokémon takes a tiny amount of damage at the end of every turn. In addition, their Attack stat falls drastically.||Burn Heal|

|Paralysis||The Pokémon sometimes cannot move, therefore losing their turn. In addition, their Speed stat is reduced.||Parylz Heal|
|Poison||The Pokémon takes some damage at the end of every turn. Damage increases exponentially if the Pokemon is poisoned by Toxic.||Antidote|
|Sleep||The Pokémon cannot perform any action. Cures naturally after a number of turns in battle. Upon waking; the Pokémon will immediately perform its selected move.||Awakening|
Note : You can also use a Full Heal or Full Restore to restore your Pokemon’s status.
Status afflictions persist after battle, so it’s worth your time to cure them when a safe opportunity arises. On the other hand, your opponents during the story rarely have the means to cure their Pokemon, so don’t hesitate to apply a status afflictions to gain the upper hand.
Not all Pokemon can be afflicted. Fire-type Pokemon cannot be burned, Ice-types cannot be frozen, Electric-types cannot be paralysed, while Poison and Steel-types cannot be poisoned. Certain Pokemon Abilities can also confer or nullify immunities.
