There are no official “routes” on Poni Island since it’s largely undeveloped land, but this is close enough. To reach your next destination, you need to head south-east. But where’s the fun without spending some extra time to look around the whole place?

From the Seafolk Village entrance, head west through the tall grass and towards the shore area, down the nearby slope. If you didn’t catch one on Route 5, you can chase after "Wimpod" IconWimpod here. Running won’t do; you need to charge with "Tauros" IconTauros.

Anyway, in the south-west corner of the shore is a Dancer who serves as Poni Wilds’s chief trainer. She’ll only battle you once the other trainers have given in to your might. Let’s get going then! Search the sand between the Dancer and the rock above to find a buried Pearl .

After that, head north-west from where you found the Pearl. Search near the waters to find a Repeat Ball . Next, head north and pick up the Max Repel in plain sight, below the pair of rocks. Then go over to the pair of rocks and scoop up the "Zygarde" IconZygarde Cell (70) between them.

Finally, search the north-most part of the shore, between the waters and the cliff to find a juicy Big Pearl . Before exiting the shore, approach the waters to the west and call "Lapras" IconLapras or "Sharpedo" IconSharpedo. Preferably the former if you intend to fish in the bubbling spot to the far south.

Towards the west side, you can pick up a Pearl String near the south and a Dusk Stone to the north. From here, you can leave the shore near the north if you’d like to avoid the Ace Trainer walking along to its east. That said, the road from here is tough, so the experience will be valuable.

Ace Trainer Kekoa

Pokemon Level Type
"Skarmory" IconSkarmory 44 Steel/Flying
"Sharpedo" IconSharpedo 45 Water/Dark

"Skarmory" IconSkarmory shouldn’t be a surprise. Counter it with Electric or Fire-types if possible and use special moves to get around its high Defense stat.

Sharpedo, you’ve rode on one, but probably haven’t battled one. It’s weak to Grass, Electric, Bug, Fighting and Fairy-types. It has amazing offensive presence, but terrible defenses.

North from the Ace Trainer is a slope leading north, separated by some rocks. Above, there’s a Dancer spinning around, looking for a fight. If you hug the east path or have perfect timing, you can skip past her.

Dancer Cara

Pokemon Level Type
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Sensei Style) 43 Ghost/Flying

This "Oricorio" IconOricorio is the one native to Poni Island. It’s part Ghost, so it’s weak to Electric, Rock, Ice, Dark and Ghost-type moves. It’s also high enough Level to use its signature move Revelation Dance, which for this Oricorio is a Ghost-type move.

In this north-west corner, there’s a berry pile in the far end and a Rare Candy that’s sleeping between two rocks. Next, make your way back to the east side of the shore. From the bottom-most slope, head north-east towards the path with tall grass and a trainer looking left and right.

Ace Trainer Lindsey

Pokemon Level Type
"Garbodor" IconGarbodor 44 Poison
"Toxapex" IconToxapex 45 Poison/Water

A fan of Poison Pokemon. "Garbodor" IconGarbodor is the evolved form of "Trubbish" IconTrubbish, native to Malie City’s Outer Cape. It has good all round stats, so you’ll need to combat it with something just as capable.

"Toxapex" IconToxapex is the evolved form of "Mareanie" IconMareanie. Like its earlier form, it’s weak to Ground, Psychic and Electric-types. Naturally Ground-types weak to Water should sit this out unless they’re powerhouses or their name is Zygarde.

Wade through the grass north from this female Ace Trainer. On the other side is a clearing with another berry pile waiting to be rummaged. From here, head east and through the short row of tall grass. To the north is a Max Potion **** on the floor.

You’ll need to come back at different times of the day to get ’em all.

Making sure that wasn’t just a Max Potion you dropped yourself, head south through the next two rows of tall grass. At the end, if it’s day time, go up the small slope to the left. Just before the ledge, there’s a Zygarde Cell (71) by the rocks waiting to be sent to your cube.

Afterwards, head east towards the Trainers Tip sign. If it’s night time, you can find a Zygarde Cell (72) next to the sign. Past the sign, there’s a slope leading to an area of high ground, where a third berry pile is located. Wow, these things sure are common in nature!

Finally, to the south is a road lined with tall grass leading to the next area. Halfway along is a trainer standing along the west edge of the western row of tall grass. Past him is the exit in the far south-east corner, below the red stone arch.

Cook Fil

Pokemon Level Type
"Parasect" IconParasect 43 Bug/Grass
"Ribombee" IconRibombee 43 Bug/Fairy

Why is a Cook using Bug Pokemon? Are these things he found hiding in his kitchen?

Anyway, "Parasect" IconParasect is extremely weak to Fire and Flying-types. You can also send it running with Ice, Poison and Rock-types, although the latter is of course vulnerable to Grass.

"Ribombee" IconRibombee is a pretty common sight in Ula’ula Meadow. As before, it’s weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Steel and Poison-types. That’s more than enough choice!

Now that all of the trainers in Poni Wilds have bowed down to your might, you can challenge the Dancer in the south-west corner of the shore. To a dancing competition nonetheless!

Dancer Julia

Pokemon Level Type
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Baile Style) 43 Fire/Flying
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Pom-Pom Style) 43 Electric/Flying
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Pa’u Style) 43 Psychic/Flying
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Sensei Style) 43 Ghost/Flying

Julia has all four forms of Oricorio. Annoyingly, it’s impossible to figure out which specific Oricorio she’ll send out next from its name alone. You can manipulate the order somewhat by defeating her current Oricorio with one that’s weak to one she hasn’t sent out.

In any case, all four forms are weak to Rock-types so if you’ve got one of those, this battle is pretty braindead. Otherwise, three of the four forms are weak to Electric and Ice-types, so that’s another easy win for you.

However, as you were warned, each Oricorio is holding onto a Focus Sash, which effectively grants the same effect as the Sturdy Ability. That means your Pokemon need to be able to survive a hit from Oricorio. Or a hit from themselves as the Oricorio love to spam Teeter Dance.

Outperform Julia’s dancing and you’ll be given her Focus Sash . Don’t use this during story battles as it disappears after use.
