Ultra Warp Ride

Ultra Warp Ride

Riding With Style

Left: Good. Right: Bad.

To travel through Ultra Space, you’ll need to ride on Solgaleo or Lunala. No need to worry about having them in your party or your PC box, however, because you’ll be borrowing one from the Ultra Recon Squad. You can also speak to them at Ultra Megalopolis to choose which to ride on. Neither will change the gameplay of the minigame, so it’s purely cosmetic.

If you would like to go on an Ultra Warp Ride, you’ll need to travel back to the Altar of the Sunne or Altar of the Moone at the heart of Vast Poni Canyon. It is a destination for your helpful Charizard, so just fly over there and you will see a small ripple in space. Press A and you will see an option to travel through Ultra Space. This is how you can activate the minigame.

Initially, the game will default to using gyro controls. While it’s fun to actively be tilting your 3DS, it can be imprecise, especially with poor calibration. Tilting the 3DS around a lot can also make it hard for you to actually see what’s going on.

If you don’t want to use gyro controls, go to the Gamefreak building in Heahea City. You will see an Aether Foundation employee in the office. Speak with them and select the circle pad option instead.

Once inside Ultra Space, you will see yellow-orange circular orbs of energy, and crackling balls of electricity. Make sure you run through as many of the energy orbs as you can. These let you go faster . Avoid the electricity, they will slow you down.

As you travel further into Ultra Space, electricity becomes more common and energy orbs all but disappear. The longer you travel for without getting more energy, the slower you become. If you are too slow, the gravity of the Ultra Wormhole will suck you in and you might go somewhere you didn’t want to go to.

Make sure you collect as many energy orbs as you can in the beginning to stock up on "fuel" so you can go far, and avoid the electricity. As you get better and better at mastering the Ultra Warp Ride navigation, you’ll be able to find rarer and rarer portals.

Let’s jump into the next section and learn about the different portal rarities to get the rarest, best Pokemon.
