We passed through Route 5 earlier, on the way to Brooklet Hill, the location of the 2nd island trial. However, back then, only the bottom half was accessible. Coming from Route 8, you’ll arrive at the upper half of the route. A short distance to the east is the entrance to Lush Jungle, where you can begin the 4th trial.

Before passing through the trial gates though, it might be worth your time to explore the rest of Route 5 while you’re here. If so, head directly south from the Lush Jungle entrance. You’ll come onto a rocky highland. As you step foot on this highland, search the corner of the rock towards the east to find a hidden PP Up.

Moving on, slowly continue south along the highland, until you reach a directional signpost. South from here is a ledge and a small den to its west. If you get close to the den, watch out as you’ll get ambushed by a wild Pokémon. Carefully jump over the ledge and immediately stop. Down below is another ledge.

Going south from this second ledge brings you back to the bottom half of Route 5. We’ve already been there, so go west from the top of the ledge instead. Here, there’s a small rocky mound in the center of the path. Patrolling the mound is a Pokémon trainer traveling anti-clockwise; when he reaches the west side, he’ll briefly stop to scout around.

Youngster Caleb

Pokémon Level Type
"Charjabug" IconCharjabug 20 Bug/Electric

The middle evolution of "Grubbin" IconGrubbin. This critter, which looks suspiciously like a subway train, has gained the Electric type, thus making it weak to Fire and Rock only. That’s a small list of weaknesses, but most Pokémon should hit for neutral damage, which is enough.

Along the wall above the rocky mound are two small dens. The one to the right is home to a wild Pokémon. Meanwhile the one to the left is seemingly empty, but if you search carefully, you can find a hidden Nugget. Past the rocky mound, the Route 5 Pokémon Center will come into view. From this corner, head north through the tall grass.

On the other side, go south-west behind the Pokémon Center. At the end of this path is a female trainer scouting east. When she’s looking north-east, it’s possible to sneak past her from below. Either way, grab the Hyper Potion near her feet.

Ace Trainer Alexis

Pokémon Level Type
"Goomy" IconGoomy 22 Dragon
"Sylveon" IconSylveon 23 Fairy

A pair of special tanks, so physical attackers are recommended. "Goomy" IconGoomy is a pure Dragon-type, so it’s weak to Ice, Dragon and Fairy. Obviously your own Dragons should be wary of receiving super-effective hits. "Sylveon" IconSylveon is a pure Fairy and thus weak to Poison and Steel. Fire-types are also great in a pinch.

Return to the tip of the tall grass near the Pokémon Center and this time travel north-east, back towards the rocky highland. Along the north, there’s a hiker looking left to right. You can give him the slip by hugging the wall to the south.

Hiker Gabriel

Pokémon Level Type
"Makuhita" IconMakuhita 22 Fighting
"Mudbray" IconMudbray 22 Ground

Two unevolved Pokémon that shouldn’t get in the way of your progress. "Makuhita" IconMakuhita is weak to Flying, Psychic and Fairy. Meanwhile "Mudbray" IconMudbray is weak to Water, Grass and Ice.

Past the hiker is a small slope leading up. At the top is another rocky mound smack bang in the center. Go east around the mound from its north face, then pick up the Full Heal by the edge. Nearby to the south is a ledge that takes you back down. Ignore the ledge and return to the west side of the mound, either via the north or the south.

If going along the south, prepare for a wild Pokémon rushing in from an extremely hard to see small den, opposite the rocky mound. Back at the west side, head directly south, then follow the narrow, curved path to the end. You’ll reach the golden ball teasing you earlier; inside is TM59 Brutal Swing.

Afterwards, leap over the ledge to the east of the rocky mound. From here, simple stroll north to get back to the Lush Jungle entrance.
