Once you’ve arrived at Geosenge Town, you can’t actually do much except head out of town by the north-west exit. As you leave a Grunt will stop you and begin a battle.

Trainer Battle: Team Flare Grunt

Pokémon Level Type
"Manectric" IconManectric 45 Electric
"Scrafty" IconScrafty 45 Dark/Fighting

Once he’s beaten and runs off, follow after him. Just as you reach the Team Flare HQ, your rival will appear to help you. With that extra assistance, it’s time we headed on inside.

Inside the HQ

Interact with the switch inside and you’ll head down a number of levels. Head back through the door and you’ll reach a room with a number of grunts. Good thing none of them are keen to fight. Walk up the stairs to meet with Lysandre again. Looks like it’s another battle with him!

Trainer Battle: Team Flare Lysandre

Gyarados can Mega Evolve into Mega Gyarados using the Gyaradosite Mega Stone!

Pokémon Level Type
"Mienshao" IconMienshao 48 Fighting
"Honchkrow" IconHonchkrow 47 Dark/Flying
"Pyroar" IconPyroar 49 Fire/Normal
"Gyarados" IconGyarados 51 Water/Flying

Pretty much the same battle as in his cafe, escept he’s evolved his "Mienfoo" IconMienfoo and "Murkrow" IconMurkrow when you weren’t looking. As before, "Gyarados" IconGyarados is the most threatening, so bring along an Electric-type (or a Pokemon with these moves) for quadruple damage - an almost sure-fire one-hit K.O.

After he’s been taught a lesson, it’ll be time to head into the lower levels. You might want to heal first. When you’re ready to head through the door west of Lysandre. As you head on through, your rival will join you. Follow the path along and you’ll come upon some Team Flare members. Time for a double battle!

Once the two of them are taken care of head on around and you’ll have another two to take on.

Double Battle: Team Flare Admin & Team Flare Grunt

Mightyena is strong against Meowstic, so give your rival a hand.

Keep following the path until you reach the door. Once you do Shauna will open it for you and you’ll be able to head on through. You’ll now have four Admins standing in front of you. Time to take them down, one at a time. Speak with them to fight them. Do so for each one until they’re all down.

Trainer Battle: Team Flare Admin (Standing front left)

Only Team Flare stands between you and your first Legendary Pokémon!

Trainer Battle: Team Flare Admin (Standing at the back)

Pokémon Level Type
"Golbat" IconGolbat 50 Poison/Flying

Once you defeat the last of the four, they’ll all run off calling for Lysandre. Now you just need to go up and press the switch on the machine. As you get close however, the Legendary awakes. After the cinematic, you’re fighting it!

Wild Pokemon Battle [If youre playing X]

If you’re using a Master Ball you might as well use it on your very first turn.

Pokémon Level Type
"Xerneas" IconXerneas 50 Fairy

Wild Pokemon Battle [If youre playing Y]

This is Yveltal; Pokémon Y’s unique Legendary.

Pokémon Level Type
"Yveltal" IconYveltal 50 Dark/Flying

Okay, so you should still have that Master Ball you got given earlier. That’s a certain way of catching it and you can just use it straight up. If not then stock up on Ultra Balls and the like beforehand, whittle its HP down very low then just spam Poké Balls at it and hope you’re lucky. If you accidentally defeat it, just restart the game and try again until you have it.

Once you’ve caught it, you’ll be asked if you want to add it to your party immediately. Feel free to if you think it’ll be useful. Once you’re done, Lysandre will appear. Uh oh! It’s Lysandre’s final form, heheheh. Let’s go! Be wary, Gyarados can now mega evolve ! This is going to be tough.

Trainer Battle: Team Flare Boss Lysandre

Pokémon Level Type
"Mienshao" IconMienshao 49 Fighting
"Honchkrow" IconHonchkrow 49 Dark/Flying
"Pyroar" IconPyroar 51 Fire/Normal
"Gyarados" IconGyarados 53 Water/Flying

If you caught your legendary, it will appear at the start of the battle. Either way it’s powerful against his first Pokémon. Gyarados will Mega Evolve into Mega Gyarados making it extra dangerous. Fairy-types are good, because Mega Gyarados swaps its Flying designation for Dark, but be wary of Iron Head.

After the battle the Team Flare plotline will conclude. ‘Twas fun! Now it’s time to head back to Anistar City and continue on to the 8th Gym Leader! Fly there, heal up and take the south-east exit out of town. As you’re heading out Sycamore will send you a Holo Clip. He’ll ask to meet you in the next town. Sounds like a plan. Head on out to the next route.
