Missions and Events

Missions and Events Description
Missions Complete all story missions
Strangers Complete 10 parts of Stranger Missions
Bounties Capture 5 Bounties
Chance Encounters Resolve 25 of the random encounters
Bushwhacked Encounter a single ambush from another gang
Gang Hideouts Capture all 6 Gang Hideouts

Missions and Events requires you to complete all story missions, encounter and finish 10 Stranger missions, five Bounties, 25 Chance Encounters, get ambushed a single time by a gang, and knock out 6 Gang Hideouts. The Chance Encounters are the random people you see calling out for you as you’re exploring, usually shown as a white dot on your map. Gang Hideouts are specific locations that are more or less, the gangs’ headquarters. Take down one of each gang to finish this.

Collectibles

Collectibles Description
Points of Interest Find a single unique place and have it jotted down in your journal
Graves Find 9 Graves and pay respects to them (complete story first)
Cigarette Card Sets Complete a single Cigarette Card set (consists of 12 cards)
Dinosaur Bones Find all 30 Dinosaur Bones
Legendary Fish Catch all 13 Legendary Fish
Exotics Complete all exotic tasks for Algernon Wasp
Rock Carvings Find the locations of 10 Rock Carvings
Hunting Requests Finish all five Hunting Requests
Treasure Hunter Complete a single treasure hunter chain
Dreamcatchers Find all 20 Dreamcatchers

The Collectibles section is a bit more involved, as you have to track down a bunch of things. Throughout the game’s world are locations that will trigger your character to mention them in his journal, called Points of Interest; you only need to find one of these. The Graves are something you can’t do until you finish the main story. You will need all 144 Cigarette Cards, but you don’t need to hunt them down individually, as you can use the Premium Cigarettes method of obtaining them. The Dinosaur Bones are part of a Stranger Mission, and you need all 30 of them.

Likewise, the Legendary Fish are another collectible that’s part of a Stranger Mission, and you need to catch all 13. Exotics are a part of a long and involved Stranger Mission for Algernon Wasp, where you’ll need to hunt down a bunch of birds and flowers. Rock Carvings are another collectible tied to a Stranger Mission and only has 10 of them to find, so it’s possibly the easiest one to do. Hunting Requests are a series of little missions that require you to hunt down small game and bring back perfect carcasses; you can’t finish this until the Epilogue.

The Treasure Hunter chain involves finding a treasure map, first and foremost. Luckily, there is a Stranger Mission that lets you get one of these maps; all you have to do is just find the treasure at the end to complete this objective. Last for the collectibles section are Dreamcatchers, which is probably the only thing that isn’t tied to anything else in the game. There’s 20 of them out in the wild and you can get all of them without having to be in the Epilogue.

Compendium

Compendium Description
Animals Discover 50 animals
Equipment Obtain 10 pieces of equipment
Fish Discover 10 species of fish
Gangs Encounter all six enemy gangs
Horses Discover 10 breeds of horses
Plants Collect 20 kinds of plants
Weapons Use at least 48 different weapons

The next section is the Compendium, which is a bit misleading, especially if you’re going after all of the trophies. First up on the list is 50 Animals, which you can discover easily by Studying them with R1 when close enough or killing them and looting their bodies; as long as they appear in the Compendium, they will be discovered. This will naturally come if you go for the Zoologist trophy, which requires you to study pretty much every animal in the game. You only need to find 10 pieces of Equipment and you’ll start out with a few. Since you need to do all of the Challenges, you will be able to purchase more equipment from the Trapper, as the challenges unlock stuff.

For fish, you only need to catch 10 different ones to fulfill the objective, but one of the challenges requires you to catch every single fish in the game. The Gangs part of the compendium just has you encountering all six enemy gangs, which will come naturally by playing all of the story missions. You will need to discover 10 different breeds of horses. One of the challenges requires breaking all wild horse breeds, of which there are nine, so you only need to discover one more breed. Similarly, one of the challenges in the game will require you to find all of the plants in the game, so discovering 20 of them for 100% will come naturally.

Lastly, you have the weapons. There’s a total of 59 unique weapons in the game and you will need to use at least 48 of them to fulfill this bit. Seven of the 59 weapons in the game are missable, so make sure you visit the [Weapons] page for all locations. Note that there are a few extra weapons that can be obtained from doing certain things in Grand Theft Auto V, but these aren’t needed and it’s not sure if they actually count towards the needed ones.

Player

Player Description
Max Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye Reach max health, stamina and dead eye
Horse Bonding Reach level 4 bonding with a single horse
Challenges Complete all 90 Challenges (9 sets of 10 each)

While this category looks very short, don’t let that fool you, as doing all of the Challenges will take a long time. In fact, some of them will require you to be in the Epilogue, so it can be a while before you’re able to do them all. Likewise, maxing your health, stamina and dead eye is directly tied to finishing all Challenges. Once you do that, go to any Trapper and purchase the equipment that unlocked from doing the Challenges. As long as you keep the same horse for a good while, then the level 4 bonding will come naturally. You can help it along by brushing your horse, as well as feeding it and even patting the thing.

Miscellaneous

Miscellaneous Description
Shacks Find 5 Shacks
Legendary Animals Track down and kill 5 Legendary Animals
Table Games Play 1 game each of Blackjack, Poker, Dominoes, and Five Finger Fillet
Ranters, Ravers and Campaigners Find and interact with five Ranters, Ravers and Campaigners
Bath Take a single bath
Show Watch one show
Theater Visit one theater
Recipes Craft one recipe from each type
Robberies Complete one kind of robbery from each type

This is a category that has a lot of simple things in it. For example, you can head to any place where you can rent a room and ask to take a bath instead. It doesn’t matter whether you use the deluxe option or not, as long as you take a bath. Likewise, you can view a show in Valentine (it’s on the outskirts) and head to the theater in Saint Denis. For the Table Games one, you just need to play a single game of each one and you don’t even have to win. Of course, you’ll be playing a lot of those games if you’re going after all of the Challenges.

The Shacks are just as they sound, as they are little shacks you can visit in the game (or remnants of shacks). There’s a large number of them, but you only need to visit five of them to fulfill this objective. Hunting can be a bit part of the game and there are stronger versions of the animals out in the wild. These Legendary Animals work a bit differently than normal ones. Whenever you are in the area where one is located, the game will point it out for you with a text box in the upper left corner. You’ll need to find three clues to track down the animal to kill. There’s a total of 16 in the game, but you only need to hunt five of them.

Ranters, Ravers, and Campaigners are special people in the towns of the game that will appear as white dots, similar to Chance Encounters. You’ll know these fall into this category, as the NPCs will generally be speaking loudly. As an example, the mayor of Strawberry will give a speech, plus there is a war veteran in some towns that will be panhandling. Encounter five of these to knock this off the list. For Recipes, you will need to craft a single one from each of the six types at a campfire, either the one in camp or while in the wild. You can purchase new recipes from a Fence, plus you will earn more as you progress in the game. You have Cooking, Tonic, Hunting, Weapon, Ammo, and Horse Care.

The final one on the list, Robberies, can be a little tricky. There are four different types of robberies in the game: home robbery, store robbery, coach robbery, and train robbery. First and foremost, any robberies you do as part of an actual mission will not count towards this objective, so you will have to do this on your own. The home robbery will be done when working on Breaking and Entering, as you need to steal the stash from homesteads. Note that some of the homes will require you to threaten someone to learn about the stash, so don’t go in with guns blazing.

Coach robberies can wait until you’ve completed Friends in Very Low Places, as this unlocks two corrupt post office workers at Rhodes and Strawberry that allow you to rob specific coaches (these are the only ones that count). Train robberies can be done on any train, but it’s best to wait until you’re out of town before you do this, as the lawmen will arrive rather quickly while in town. The store robberies are special, similar to the coach ones, as normally robbing a store won’t work. Instead, you need to find the stores that are hiding something, like the gunsmith in Rhodes, as an example. If you go to the side, you should have someone in the basement window asking for help. This will be your cue to head into the shop and aim your gun at the shopkeeper. This should give you an option to lead you into the basement, where you can free the kid and proceed to rob the store to have it count towards this objective.
