Travel north to reach the Barrows of Udun. This area is the black sheep of the Udun areas, as it’s just one large area with a Forge Tower in it. That’s right, no other areas are revealed. Make your way to the forge tower and give it a good pounding to force the map to reveal its secrets, which include three Ithildin, two Artifacts, a Bow Mission, and a Sword Mission. Jump off the Forge Tower and head west to find some ruins and head to the northernmost part of these ruins, which face some more ruins across a ditch to the north. On the northern face of these ruins you’ll find the “Ivab gelebren” Ithildin, just above an arch.

Find the hidden room in the caves (left), wherein you’ll find the Serpentine Blade Artifact (right).

Now head north-west to find a large cave, where Urak overseers watch over their human slaves. Head down a long tunnel to the east, then turn south when you run out of east. The path will turn south-east again after a geysers, then north-east. Search the northern wall as you head north-east, and before the tunnel turns south you’ll find a ledge you can climb up to. Do so, then continue north-west until you find a well-lit room decorated with red cloth below you. Drop down and search around for the Serpentine Blade Artifact.

The “Swift Mercy” Bow Mission charges you with shooting down a host of moribund Uruks (left). After grabbing all the Ithildin in this area, we should have found half of the possible Ithildin in the game (right).

Fast travel back to the Barrows of Udun Forge Tower, and from it head north-east to find a stone tower, most likely manned by an Uruk archer. Scale it to find the “Nan iChir Gelair Mordor” Ithildin on a broken wall at the top of the tower. Just east of here, on a broken stone walkway you’ll find the “Swift Mercy” Bow Mission . Here you’ll be tasked to kill a bunch of Uruks who are almost dead as quickly as possible. Take the easy Mirian and continue east and cross a bridge. Scale the wall of the ruins immediately across the bridge and ascend until you reach the level upon which an archer prowls-the highest point of thist structure. Here you’ll find the Coded Journal Entry #1 Artifact.

Now head south until you find “The Fell Beast” Sword Mission , which is on top of some ruins. Lots of things are among, around, on top of, or near ruins, eh? Complete this Sword Mission, then continue to the eastern edge fo this area to find a tower bearing the “di ’weriennin anann” Ithildin, which is near the top, on the outer, eastern face of the tower. Claiming this Ithildin should earn you the “Crowned with Living Light” Trophy/Achievement.

Whew. Every area in Udun should now be explored, save a few weapon missions we didn’t meet the prerequisites for earlier. By now you should have unlocked Tier 2 Abilities if you’ve been killing Captains when you found them (or as they found you!) Also, you should have obtained enough Mirian to purchase three Rune upgrades for each weapon, at the very least. We also should have completed as many Survival and Hunting Challenges as possible at this point in time. All in all, we should be well-prepared to deal with anything the story missions can throw at us. It’s time to turn our attention to them for a while. As a bonus, we should be fairly familiar with the areas they’ll take us to. If you purchased the Brutalize Ability, consider heading back to the Internment Camp area, where you can now begin the “Display of Power” Dagger Mission.
