Speak with the blacksmith Halbarn in Thirsk Hall to learn that lots of materials are needed to rebuild the forge. Collecting the required amount can take you quite some time, as they’re rather rare. What’s more, in order to mine the precious Stalhrim, you will need a special Ancient Nordic Pickaxe. With one in hand, you can grab the Stalhrim you need from the following locations:

  • Benkongerike – 3 pieces can be obtained from a sarcophagus in the Great Hall.

  • Gyldenhul Barrow – 6 pieces can be obtained from sarcophagi coffins by the entrance.

  • Kolbjorn Barrow – 6 pieces can be obtained from two sarcophagi (see quest: Unearthed).

  • Raven Rock Mine – 3 pieces can be obtained from the sarcophagus (see quest: The Final Descent).

  • Stalhrim Source – 30 pieces can be obtained from the sarcophagi (see quest: A New Source of Stalhrim).

  • A small island north of Northshore Landing – 6 pieces can be obtained from the sarcophagi.

  • After completing A New Source of Stalhrim, you can visit Baldor Iron–Shaper in Skaal Village – he sometimes has some on sale.

Obtaining 15 Ebony Ingots will also take you a while. There are basically three sources of this material:

  • A couple ingots can be bought from the blacksmith Glover Mallory in Raven Rock .

  • Quite a bit of ebony can be mined from the Raven Rock Mine .

  • Ash Spawns can leave behind random material (including ebony ores) – the biggest number or these monsters can be found in the temple in Raven Rock (see: Clear the temple from ash spawn).

Bring Halbarn the required resources to end the mission. Note that from now on the man will become an ordinary blacksmith with whom you can trade.
