Located south of Whiterun and nestled between two mountains, Riverwood is without a doubt a beautiful little town. It has | a river running nearby and an almost classic medieval feel to it. Riverwood is likely the first town you’ll ever visit (given where you start the game) and while it may not be huge, it plays a central role in the main storyline.

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTS

Craft a Potion

An easy little quest you can get from the Sleeping Giant inn-keeper, Orgmar by asking to use the Alchemy Lab nearby. He doesn’t GIVE you the ingredients though. Just buy some wheat and blisterwort from him and make that into a potion using the nearby lab and you’re done.

Craft an Iron Dagger

All part of a small chain of smithing quests that Temper an Iron Dagger you recieve from the smith of Riverwood, Alvor. Craft some Leather These quests are ideal for getting to know your Craft a Hide Helmet way around a forge, and you get a few good items Temper a Hide Helmet for free with your “tutorial”.

Deliver Faendal’s letter to Camilla

Deliver Sven’s letter to Camilla

(Optional) Tell Sven about Faendal’s letter

(Optional) Tell Faendal about Sven’s letter

This miscellaneous quest starts when you talk to either Sven OR Faendal. Basically, they each love Camilla and want her, but want to discredit the other suitor. You can choose to do a lot of things here, including helping either of them or just plain telling Camilla what’s going on. You will be friends with whomever you help and they will both become your follower, but it SHOULD be noted Faendal is actually an ARCHERY trainer and you can get free Archery training by having him follow you (although there ARE other Archery trainers that can follow you, so do as you wish!).

Kill the bandit leader located at Valtheim Keep

Talk to the inn-keeper Orgmar and ask if he has any leads for work and you’ll get this bounty letter from the Jarl’s men. Valtheim Towers is a ways away, being just east of Whiterun, but it’s a good test of your abilities. The only REAL danger in the place is the Bandit Leader, and he is also the only one you have to KILL (you should kill all the bandits). You’ll face 5-6 bandits in these two towers though, so just go kill them all and keep your health up… and don’t drop off the bridge and die like I did once…

Afterwards, you’ll have to go talk to the steward in Whiterun to collect your reward: 100 gold. Be sure to loot the tower thouroughly before you go though, as there is loot and an ARCHERY skillbook to be found here (“The Black Arrow, v2”).
