One Man is an Island

Note: This mission becomes available after campaign Mission 32: Concertpocalypse.

Part 1: Clear the Area

This mission can be started by speaking with Red, a pirate who is located on a boat stranded in the middle of a small island located in the south west portion of the Harbour District.

After beginning the side-quest, you’ll be given the first task of eliminating some Wingers that are hanging out in the nearby area. The game will place three blue objective area on the map and you’ll need to enter each of these and kill the Wingers inside.

Speak with Red (left) to start the mission. Head north and take out the Winger here (right).

You can expect the following at each location:

  • North Zone - The first zone is just to the north of Red’s island and is filled with a large number of regular OD as well as a single Winger flying overhead. Hop up to the wires above and kill the Winger whilst using your movement skills to bounce and grind your way through the fight to avoid the regular OD as much as possible.
  • East Zone – There are a pair of wingers hanging around near the top of the buildings here. They will cut laps around the area and are also backed up by several regular OD and some Muggers. As these Wingers move around quite a bit between the buildings it can be tricky to kill them whilst grinding. I recommend dropping to one of the rooftops and kill them from here whilst avoiding their fire.
  • West Zone – There are two more Wingers hanging out by the very top of the building indicated by the blue mission area. Climb to the top and take them out, ensuring to eliminate any Blowers that may get in the way.

Clear out the Wingers from the East (left) and the west (right) zones before returniing to Red.

Once you have cleared all three zones of Wingers, return to Red and speak with him to begin the next portion of the side-quest.

Part 2: Defence

The final part of this quest is also the hardest. Following the scene you will note that there are several green targeting reticules placed around the boat facing in various directions. Looking at these and hitting the interact button will have the cannons on the boat launch a wave of projectiles, pretty much killing anything it hits, which is good because we need them! The only issue with this is that there is a short cooldown timer on cannon fire, preventing you from being able to constantly use them.

After a short period of time, Wingers will start to move in and attack the boat. Keep your eyes on the mini-map to identify where they are coming from and what numbers you are contending with. We need to use the cannons to clear them out. Unfortunately, before long, the Wingers will start to move in more quickly than the cannon’s cooldown will account for and as such, you will need to dodge their attack whilst you wait for the cannon to recharge.

Whilst defending the boat, avoid enemy attacks (left) and then try to hit multiple wingers at once with the cannon fire (right).

As you progress through the defence, multiple Wingers will show up at the same time as well, meaning more dodging! Do your best to try and utilise the cannons when wingers bunch together. Unfortunately, there is no real strategy involved here to make things easier other than to dodge, dodge, dodge and use cannons when available.

Eventually, once you have wiped out enough Wingers, a scene will play to end the mission.
