The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Optional - Skyloft Sidequesting

By
Vincent Lau

Before entering the Ancient Cistern, I recommend first using the Bird Statue and then going up into the sky to restock in Skyloft, do some sidequests and whatnot.

Goddess Cubes

Firstly, if you haven’t already, go and look for the Goddess Cube chests you’ve activated. This is the list, organized by order mentioned since last “catch-up” in the walkthrough.

Treasure Chest 1

(1 of 2) It might not seem doable at first, but you can reach this island just by jumping.

Your first chest is on Skyloft, near the western “Loftwing dock”. You can dash-jump to this Silver Rupee chest.

Treasure Chest 2

(1 of 2) If it’s too hard to sky-dive, come back when you have the Clawshots.

If it’s too hard to sky-dive, come back when you have the Clawshots. (left), Another Piece of Heart to add to your collection. (right)

The second chest is on the volcano-esque island south of Skyloft. This one is tough to get, because you typically need the Clawshots to access it. However, you can dive into the island and try tilting the Wii Remote to get on the ledge in the island. If you find it tough, just come back later with the Clawshots; you’ll get them soon after finishing the Ancient Cistern. The chest contains a Heart Piece 12.

Treasure Chest 3

(1 of 2) To avoid the Walltulas, sky-dive to the canopy above the treasure chest, then drop down to the top of the vines.

The third chest is within the Thunderhead, northeast of the Isle of Songs. Climb the vines to the top of the island to find a Rupee Medal.

Treasure Chest 4

The fourth chest is on Skyloft, and you will need the Clawshots for this one. You can Clawshot onto the vines on the ledges above the Waterfall entrance to reach the top of the waterfall, then jump off of the edge to reach the small island with the chest. It is quite unlikely you’ll get to this one with a method similar to the second chest above. Anyhow, the chest contains a Gold Rupee.

Last-minute Shopping

Again, I recommend stocking up in Skyloft before returning. Some more Potion and a few equipment upgrades would be nice, as would the Sacred Shield if you could afford the 500 Rupees.

Anyhow, when you’re ready, go to where the waterfall used to be and go into the water. Spin jump to the ledge and enter the dungeon, covered in the next section.

Long ago, on a dark day, the earth cracked and evil forces rushed out of the fissure. These forces mercilessly attacked the people of the earth, slaughtering them and destroying their land. They did this in search of the ultimate power, a power capable of granting any wishes of its holder. This power, passed down from the gods of old, was guarded by Her Grace, the goddess of the land. The goddess gathered the surviving humans on a piece of earth and sent it skyward, beyond the clouds. With the humans safe, the goddess joined the land dwellers and fought the evil forces in a war of unmatched scale and ferocity. They eventually sealed the evil forces away, restoring peace to the surface. However, the humans remained in Skyloft, as Hylia knew that the seal on the evil would not hold forever.

You are Link, a resident of Skyloft, who, after a strange dream, sets out on a journey to save his beloved home.
