Peckpocket E Mount Wildwood
Snotsolong E Trash in alleys

Upon leaving the house, you’ll be introduced to Requests (blue flags) and Favors (orange flags). The former are one-time deals that will usually end up with you getting a specific item or dealing with a Yokai; the latter are repeatable. There is a lot you can do, so it’s time to get started. The first thing you should definitely do is finish all of the Requests, as not only do you get some free items from them, but you also get some XP, which will help in leveling up your Yokai a little bit. The single Favor that you can get might not be possible to complete right now, since it might require fish that you can’t get yet. There isn’t many new Yokai you can recruit, but there is one you might want to get. The Abandoned Tunnel West entrance is found in the northwest corner of Mount Wildwood and the Cutta-nah can deal some nice damage, so it might be worthwhile to get one on your team.

You’ll gain access to Requests and Favors in this chapter (left). Finishing them will result in a Bonus Scene (right), which if successful, will give you an item.

Whenever you’re ready, head to Triangle Park (marked on your map) and speak with Nate/Katie. It turns out that they have gotten themselves into a fight with their friend, who should now be at the riverfront. Head there and speak with Nate/Katie, and Whisper will point out that someone on the one bench is being inspirited. Break out your lens and concentrate on the topmost bench to find a Yokai there named Tattletell. Talk to her and after a little scene, she’ll join up with you.

The great thing about Tattletell is that she has a healing skill, so she should be immediately placed into your current team. With that out of the way, speak again with Nate/Katie to patch things up with their friend. It also seems that there is a businessman going around town talking about breaking four seals. However, before you can go investigate, you see that it’s getting a little too late and that you’ll have to head home. After waking up, your Watch now has the new function of being able to tell time, which will become important.

Anyway, it’s time to head after the weird businessman, who will be located at the post office to the south. Talk to him and after everything is said and done, he reveals himself to be a Yokai named Tengloom and throws you into a battle. You learn about Wisps in this battle, which are floating blue orbs that will randomly show up during battles. By hitting the Wisp with the pin you have from using Target, you can get a bonus, either some Soul Meter being recovered or even an extra item after the battle is over. There is no downside to hitting the Wisp, so you should always do it whenever you see one.

Tattletell (left) will be your first healer, who will be a great help. If you see a wisp during battle (right), use Target to hit it with a pin to get a random reward.

As for the battle, concentrate on the Tengloom first, as it is the most powerful of the three Yokai you are facing. If you didn’t power up Tattletell at all from when you got her, it’s possible that she might be knocked out once or more during the battle. Whatever the case may be, you should get a piece of equipment after the battle, with Whisper giving you a short tutorial about it. Each Yokai can only equip a single piece of equipment, and they usually have one stat that is positive and another that will be negative. You now have two targets to choose from, so head west to the bank next to fight another Yokai ( Peckpocket ), then head to the community center for one more ( Machismo ). Get ready for a boss fight at the fourth and final seal!

BOSS - Slimamander

The first thing you will notice with this boss is that it has three heads, one of which will have an eyeball. That is the boss’ weakness and the only way to actually inflict damage to it. At first, all three heads will be closed and you won’t know which to attack, so just place the pin in one of the heads to have your Yokai attack it enough until it opens up, revealing whether it has the eyeball or not. Once you find the eyeball, continually attack it to deplete the boss’ HP (shown as the bar on the left). Once you deal enough damage, the eye will retreat and you’ll need to find it like before.

The boss doesn’t have much in the way of attacks, as each head can do a physical hit. There are two moves you need to be careful of, one of which is Slimamander’s Soultimate, called Triple Trouble . This move is similar to Cadin’s and Jibanyan’s Soultimates, where it will hit multiple times against all of your Yokai in the front row. The other skill to be careful of is Slimy Fire Breath , which can hit either two or all three Yokai in the front row. The bad thing about this move is that it can set your Yokai on fire, which is treated as an Inspirit, so quickly move the inflicted into the back row to purify them. Keep your health up and you shouldn’t have too much trouble with this boss.

Focus your attacks on a single head (left) until it reveals whether or not it houses the boss’ eye (right), which is its weak point.

You’ll receive a Simple Badge as your spoils, as well as more money and experience. Watch the scenes that follow the battle, which will bring this chapter to a close.
