This Assignment can be accepted at any point after you gain access to the Galaxy Map for the first time. It takes place across the Galaxy and involves the collection of items.

Where to find Valuable Materials¶

Once you venture out into the Galaxy, you’ll be able to either explore Uncharted Planets with the Mako or Survey them directly from space. While on the planets themselves, you may come across anomalies on the map which, when examined, will begin the decryption mini-game.

Alternatively, you can survey some planets directly and you’ll receive the item without having to explore with the Mako. Once you find your first Valuable Material, the Assignment will get added to your Journal, at which point you’ll need to find 20 Light Metals, 20 Heavy Metals, 20 Rare Earths and 6 Gases to complete the Assignment. This is only a fraction of what you can find in the Galaxy and finding each one will also award you XP and Credits, of which both scales based on your current level.
