One Piece Odyssey Lucci Boss Fight

By
Craig Robinson

Lucci is another one of the end-chapter boss fights in One Piece Odyssey, just like Crocodile. At the end of Chapter 4, you get your run-in with Lucci, with a battle taking place in the Tower of Law. This fight is slightly tricky, thanks to the split story arcs, and lore-related reasons for characters to be out of action. So, it’s a matter of using the best you have got. Here’s a closer look at the tips, tricks, team comp, and item usage you can add to your strategy to take down Lucci in One Piece Odyssey.

Here is a closer look at the One Piece Odyssey Lucci boss fight.

How to beat Lucci in One Piece Odyssey

You first need to know that Lucci is a speed-type character, so your primary damage figures are "Sanji" iconSanji and "Chopper" iconChopper. The other thing you need to be wary of is that Tactical type characters, like Robin and "Zoro" iconZoro are weak to his attacks, and, therefore, need to be in a different battlefield area.

The best-case scenario composition for this fight is Sanji, Chopper, "Nami" iconNami, and Robin. Your damage will come from Sanji’s Flambage Shot, and using Chopper’s Monster Point to deliver heavy-hitting strikes. The Monster Strike is by far the best move against him, dealing around 1200 damage per hit, and even more if his defense is lowered. Chopper is the character to carry you through this fight in damage. Meanwhile, your other team member is likely Nami and Robin. Nami provides great defensive buffs using Mirage Tempo to increase DEF and negate enemy attacks. Robin is weak to Lucci, and isn’t as strong as Zoro, but, she does have a ranged skill called Des Fleurs, which will damage Lucci’s male area to at least put some damage out and not be at risk.

Needed Items for the Lucci boss fight

It’s also worth noting that Lucci’s auto attacks will cause bleed. We recommend either using Chopper’s Aid skill (when not in Monster form) or something like a "Small Drumstick" iconSmall Drumstick to restore HP and remove either poison or bleeds status effects. It is important to cure this bleed effect, as Bleed lowers ATK on the bleeding character. Since Sanji and Chopper are the counters to Lucci, you need to maximize that damage output to make it through this fight.

The other recommended items you can use for this fight include the "Bronze Bat Soup" iconBronze Bat Soup, which provides bonus DEF and GUTS to the party and healing each character on the field for 1000 HP. It is very important to use this, as Lucci performs a move called Tempest Kick, which is an AOE move. Since Sanji and Chopper are in the same area fighting Lucci, they are likely to be hit. This is the ideal time to use the Soup, especially if Chopper is in Monster Form. Other items like "Ganzo's Oden" iconGanzo’s Oden is good for periodic health regen, and huge boosts to GUTS and DEF. TP recovery items are great too, like "Bedrock Salt Pasta" iconBedrock Salt Pasta, which you’ll likely need for Nami’s Mirage TP recovery, and Sanji’s skill dumping too.

As for Trick Balls, you can get your hands on the "Shabby Ball" iconShabby Ball and "Ragged Ball" iconRagged Ball. Shabby reduces his ATK by 25%, which is handy if you have a moment where you need to top your HP up and reduce his damage. Meanwhile, Ragged Ball lowers defense, which makes it easier to attack with your regular attacks. Moreover, "Exhaust Ball" iconExhaust Ball is better for nuking his HP when you can throw in Bond Moves or Battle Skills. Your ideal use of this is on Nami, or whoever your fourth character is also buffing and throwing support skills, especially when using Mirage is unnecessary.

Phase 2 of the Lucci Boss Fight

At about 50% HP, Lucci will grow stronger and restore to full HP, thanks to the strange green aura around his character. However, you will get "Luffy" iconLuffy back once the cutscene is over. Put Luffy back into the action, and take out Robin. Now, you want to get Luffy in the fight alongside Sanji and Chopper. Note, Luffy will enter the fight with Gear 2 active, and remain active through the fight thanks to the lore cutscene. So, make sure Luffy has TP, as you can do some serious damage using Gum-Gum Jet pistol and Bazooka. You don’t need to worry about knocking it into another are either, as bosses are typically resistant to moves like that.

With Luffy out, you don’t need to worry about constantly healing allies all teh time. Use your Trick Balls on Lucci, using both Nami and Sanji to lower GUTS and DEF in the second turn after Luffy joins the battle. That way, Chopper is already in Monster Form, and Luffy is already in gear 2 and in action. From there, just unleash as much damage as you can with Sanji joining in the combat using his skills too. Feel free to increase the ATK of Chopper during this phase with food like "Sandora Dragon Steak Tips" iconSandora Dragon Steak Tips, which adds an extra 10% ATK to the target for 3 turns, or "Herb-Grilled Bo Bo Bird" iconHerb-Grilled Bo Bo Bird for 15% to all stats to get to all allies. In other words, you will turbo-charge Chopper and Luffy to nuke the boss, with Sanji and Nami supporting your carries during this phase.

When you don’t need to buff, remember to use Nami’s Mirage Temp to shied allies, and use Sanji’s skills for some extra damage here and there. Keep doing what you do, and Lucci will go down easily.

This concludes the One Piece Odyssey Lucci boss fight. Completing this battle will lead to the inevitable conclusion to Chapter 4. Note that there’s more to this boss fight, which is related later in the story. We have spoiler tagged this for now, so reveal the text at your own peril.

Lucci returns in the final stages of Chapter 10, appearing as a destabilized memory cube, alongside Kaku. Both do the same things as in Chapter 4, and both still Speed bosses. You can use the exact same strategies of Chopper’s Monster Form, Along with Luffy’s advanced Stage skills. Sanji should also be much stronger with skills and more ATK accessories at this point. We also recommend swapping in "Brook" iconBrook over name every five turns, so that you can use his New World skill, which increases ATK for five turns for all party members on the battlefield. You will also have better food and trick balls, such as Fruit Gator Punch, Dogol Dragon’s Chilled Pasta, and "Perfected Exhaust Ball Plus" iconPerfected Exhaust Ball Plus to reduce group guts by 25% and resistance to Power Attacks by 25% for 3 turns, which is very good in this encounter.
