Combat & Utility Summary

As Dogmeat doesn’t count as a companion, players can freely unlock the Lone Wanderer perk while he’s by their side, providing a significant boost to their abilities when adventuring alone. His affinity perk, while niche, boosts damage in V.A.T.S. against enemies he has pinned down, serving as a valuable distraction and providing a unique tactical advantage. Dogmeat’s keen sense of smell also allows him to find hidden items and loot, enhancing the player’s scavenging capabilities.
