Despite some performance and combat issues, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a gripping and captivating co-op horror experience that feels novel and fresh thanks to an impressive environment and Sanity system, allowing it to stand out in a saturated market.

It is almost impossible not to be enamored by a game as delightful as Denshattack! A game with mechanics that get deeper the more you invest, and genuinely seems to believe in a better world. It’s an absolute joy and not to be missed.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

For the most part, Assassin’s Creed Resynced is both faithful where it matters while layering in rewarding new content. Some of the knock-on effects of these changes can leave certain characters feeling shortchanged, and the needless hooks into modern bloat cross-game battlepasses lessen the experience. That said, the act of revisiting Edward Kenway’s struggle is a refreshing delight. Just one I wish Ubisoft would internalize the right lessons from.

Despite being tied to Sword Art Online, Echoes of Aincrad is worth checking out for its own merits, as there is a polished and pristine sheen here that most anime-based RPG games don’t get. While it won’t surprise you, it will give you several dozen hours of exciting action and exploration
The Blood of Dawnwalker

After four hours with The Blood of Dawnwalker, I’m already hooked on Coen’s quest to save his family. Choices that matter, systems that encourage experimentation, and a story that intrigues from the outset have me excited for the final release.
Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters

Captain Tsubasa seems like it could be a great sequel with a few little niggles to fix before release. The World Youth arc already seems a lot more interesting than the original, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

The subject of whether the diversity of mechanics can persist throughout a full campaign, and whether there is enough substance to the story to adequately support the bucketloads of style the game has going for it, remains to be seen, but thankfully we don’t have long to wait, as it comes out on Switch on September 3, 2026.
Star Fox

I was one of the first to bemoan a remake of Star Fox 64, despite how much I love the original. But with amazing upgrades to the visuals and music, the fleshing out of the main cast, and great challenge modes, Star Fox will likely become one of my most-played games this year, despite wanting a bit more from the rest of the cast and the online multiplayer.
