Heatstamps are one of the main currencies in Frostpunk 2, and you’ll need a lot of them to do pretty much anything in the game. As you progress through the game, you’ll begin to struggle to generate enough, leaving you hamstrung. Fortunately, there are a myriad of ways to increase your efficiency earning them, although some methods are not so obvious. Read on to find out how you can earn more Heatstamps and what are the easiest ways to get them.

What are Heatstamps?¶
In general, Heatstamps are the generic currency that you’ll spend on Frostbreaking, construction, and specific actions such as laws, expeditions, or research. It’s a very important resource in the game, and if it lags, it could cause crime to go rampant in your communities. You’ll earn Heatstamps weekly from each community that resides in your city, and the bigger the community, the more Heatstamps you’ll get. There are four ways to increase the amount of Heatstamps you get weekly, and they are:
- Building a bigger community
- Satisfying Goods Demand
- Using certain laws or buildings
- Requesting Heatstamps from the communities
As with anything in Frostpunk 2, doing one of these options normally comes with a downside, such as owing a promise to the community you borrow the Heatstamps from, or losing favor with the faction. Creating pollution from the Districts you create to get more goods, or wasting a law spot for a minor income boost. For this reason, you need to be careful and think your actions through before committing, as the short-term solution may hinder you in the near future.

Building a Bigger Community¶
Building a bigger community is as simple as adding more Housing Districts. The bigger they are, the more Heatstamps you’ll get per week. However, doing this increases the costs of almost every other resource as they’ll need more heat, more food, and more goods, so you need to only expand or add more housing districts when you’re okay with the other resources, preferably in a surplus, but at least have the current supply met.
Increasing Goods¶
There are numerous ways to increase goods, but at the start, you’ll want to construct an Industrial District, and when it’s built, select it, and change which production they are producing to Goods (the other is Prefabs). A couple of these at the start is worth investing in, and when your community grows, expand them both before you start adding more of them. Finally, you can make them do emergency shifts by selecting the building and this will improve efficiency, but don’t use it too much, otherwise, you’ll lose the trust of the people.
Another great way to increase your Goods income is to head to the Idea Tree, go into the Resources drawer, and get the Factories and Goods Factories ideas. Getting both of them will increase your Goods Output by 100.
Finally, from the different factions, you’ll occasionally get the chance to promise them a favor for their votes. This sometimes gives you more Goods ideas such as “Mass-Produced Goods” that will further increase your output.
Creating Industrial Districts with Goods selected will increase how many goods you get. This will reduce crime, and increase Heatstamps.
Laws¶
In the various trees, some laws can help you increase your Goods and Heatstamps such as the “Paid Essentials” law in the City tree, or “Merit-Based Housing” in the same tree.
Requesting Heatstamps¶
Finally, if you’re still having trouble getting Heatstamps, you can request some from the Factions, although they will like you less, and you may owe them a favor, so only use this if you’re desperate.

Final Tips¶
There are a lot of different things you can do to acquire more Heatstamps or increase how much you earn per week, at the same time, there are things that can do the opposite, so be careful when you’re promising a favor to a Faction, and make sure you’re not leaving yourself short. Heatstamps play a huge part in the game, and in the first couple of Chapters, you will struggle to do anything you want to do.
In general, you want to get more population via Housing Districts to increase the amount of Heatstamps you get per week, but make sure you have the other resources to supply the new population, such as Heat and Shelter.
