Overall description

Riot is probably one of the maps favorite of most players due to its design, its mix of close quarter and long distance combat and the size of it. You’re located in a prison, or what’s left of it. There’s one large building in the center of the map (the prison) and several more in the outskirts of the map. There are also many rooftops that are the hotspots of the map for any game mode. Make sure to learn the layout of the map so you can dominate in every single game mode.

Action areas

The areas where all the action mostly take place are (non-objective game types like Free-for-All and Team Deathmatch/Kill Confirmed):

  • Northern rooftops. The rooftops located exactly on top of the prison area is where the people cross the most. De to the lack of good ways to move from the east side to the west and vice versa, going up here is fast although a bit dangerous due to obvious reasons. Whenever you jump up here, always have your ADS button ready to be pressed and shoot if you see an enemy here. There is cover, which is a good thing so make good use of it.
  • The roof on the south end of the central building is a really powerful spot to hold because you can oversee most of the southern area. Given that you are on a third floor makes it really hard for enemies to get you. There are though 3 ways to get up here so if you see more than one enemy come up don’t hesitate to make a run for it.
  • Eastern rooftop. Not quite as good as the previous spot but really good nonetheless. There’s a lot of cover up here which is good and you can oversee all the eastern side and most of the southern side. You can even see the enemies coming down/going up the northern rooftops so that’s a plus.

Hardpoint

The following is a list of the hardpoints in the map and how to approach each one:

  • The center of the prison itself. A large area with three overview areas and an entrance on each side. There’s really not that many good ways to get in here but you can stay in the little hallway on the northern side (second floor) and try taking out as many enemies in here before going down.
  • The rooftop of this building can get pretty hectic to be honest. A good thing is to stay on the roof on the main building (south side) and take out the enemies from here and move on to the hardpoint.
  • This hardpoint is easy to protect due to how close it is. Its a little building surrounded by nothing with an entrance on each side. It has a hole on the ceiling as well and you can boost jump from the higher roofs and drop down the center, making this way the easier way to get in here.
  • This little room in the northeast corner of the map also has an opening in the ceiling as well as three other ways to get in here. Your best bet is to get in here via the lower north entrance or through the ceiling. The other entrances are usually deathtraps.
  • A building with two entrances. Its quite hard to get in here but using the upper entrance would be best to avoid enemies from both levels.
