Catching and Defeating the Exotic Velocidrome - Letter from an Unknown Sender
Luring and Defeating the Exotic Legiana - The Sender's Identity
Ogden’s second side story is much like his first - when you Sheparden in the Canalta Highlands you’ll be able to start the next chapter of every companion’s side story questline. Predictably, Ogden gets another mysterious letter informing him of a rare beastie - an
Exotic Seregios. Naturally the fact he’s getting any correspondence past the Meridian at all adds new wrinkles to this mystery, while simultaneously heightening Ogden’s suspicions and narrowing the suspect pool considerably! This page will provide a walkthrough for Ogden’s Theory, Ogden’s second side story in Monster Hunter Stories 3 with info about finding and defeating the Exotic
Seregios!

Starting Ogden’s Theory¶
As mentioned earlier, you will need to reach Sheparden in the Canalta Highlandsto start this quest After the story events there, just find your companions gathered about and talk to Ogden to get the ball rolling on this quest. You’ll ultimately be guided to look for this Exotic Seregios along the southwestern corner of the Blessing Hill region - we recommend fast traveling to the “Camp: Blessing Hill” Catavan Stand.
Put an Azuros in your party - the stronger the better, but the fight is designed to be winnable even with a subpar Monstie,
then ride your Azuros into the clearing to provoke the Invasive Seregios!
How to Lure the Exotic Seregios¶
When you arrive, you’ll have to take a flying Monstie and head uphill to the west to find a gap you can jump and glide across, ultimately reaching a hill along the southwestern corner of the region. In a rare display of autonomy, Ogden will even take the lead and make the jump first, if you tarry, so you should be able to find where you need to go easily enough - if all else fails, let the Therabead guide you!
Once across, continue along the path ahead to the west to trigger a scene, then make your way south to a clearing where you’ll find numerous bee hives where you can harvest honey. If you’ve been here before, you’ll remember that this is where numerous Azuros used to roam, now oddly absent. Approach Ogden for another scene, the takeaway of which is simple - the Exotic Seregios is out there, watching and to lure it out you need to bait it with a Monstie it likes to feast on. If the answer wasn’t already obvious, talk to a “
Honey-Harvesting Man” to the north who spawned in during the last cutscene and he’ll flat-out mention the missing Azuros.
Fast travel back to your Camp and, assuming you’ve found and hatched an Azuros already, put it into your party. If you didn’t, you’ll need to search the Blessing Hill area for Monster Dens and plunder an Azuros egg from them and hatch it. Note that it’s possible to complete this quest with a low-level, low-quality Azuros, the upcoming fight will be easier if you actually have a somewhat competent Monstie to fight with!
You must keep Azuros in the fight to draw Invasive Seregios’s attention, otherwise it’ll start spamming “Shredding Scales”.
While Azuros is there, however, Invasive Seregios will mostly use counterable attacks against it - respond with Double Attacks!
How to Defeat the Exotic Seregios¶
Return to the honey-filled clearing with an Azuros and indeed the Exotic Seregios will appear and attack. You now have to defeat this beast with the Azuros in your party - even if between the Azuros and Ogden you’re not fielding the absolute best squad! If you retire the Azuros, Exotic Seregios will start spamming “Shredding Scales”, which is probably not survivable in the long term. Counter the Exotic Seregios’s Speed attacks with Technique, if you’re capable of it - since Exotic Seregios will focus its attention on your Azuros, your ability to do this really depends on what skills (if any) you’ve taught the Monstie. Eventually Exotic Seregios will get angry and switch to Technique attacks (counter with Power), which is a vast improvement over the “Shredding Scales” spam it would otherwise unleash.
Just spam counters when you see the blue line connecting Exotic Seregios to your Azuros, indicating it’s using a counterable attack, aiming for Double Attacks as much as possible to keep your Azuros fit. Heal if you can/need to, and save your Kinship attacks for when the Exotic Seregios switches to uncounterable attacks (a red target arrow means it’s going to use “Aerial Chaser”). Between this and Ogden and his Monstie inflicting paralysis and poison, you should be able to whittle down the Exotic Seregios, even with a less-than-ideal Azuros at your command. Keep in mind you may have to force the dumb bear to counter instead of wasting its time buffing with skills like “Honey Power”.
Keep up the pressure and Exotic Seregios should fall eventually, and this quest will end shortly after the fight itself does. Ogden will gain access to a new weapon type, a Hammer, and his Monstie
Chirpy will make gains, too!
