All Quiz Time! Name the Monster Call Answers
As the journey comes full circle, Ogden can finally look forward to getting to the truth behind the mystery letters that have been feeding him intel on exotic monsters. Of course, before you’ll get to the truth of the matter you’ll have to defeat another such monster, in the form of an
Exotic Nibelsnarf! This page will cover Ogden’s fourth and final side story, The Truth Unfolds in Monster Hunter Stories 3!
Page Breakdown¶
Starting The Truth Unfolds¶
You’ll start this quest by talking to Ogden in… well, any city, but wherever you technically started things you’ll be transported back to Galyad for a scene where the next target will be revealed. After this, fast travel to the “Camp: Glacial Caps” Catavan Stand and from there head up a trail to the west, then climb some ledges to the north to find where the Exotic
Nibelsnarf dwells. You’ll get a scene where you’ll be told that you need to lure the subterranean monster out, and that it doesn’t rely on sight to hunt.

How to Catch and Defeat the Exotic Nibelsnarf¶
This one had us stumped for a bit, mostly because we frankly forgot that the monster ability required existed, so little did we use it up to this point. Roam around the area and you should notice several round depressions - dirt pits that suggests something burrowed here relatively recently. Running around on these pits, jumping, or even using breath weapons does nothing. Instead, you have to stand on one of these depressions with a Monstie that can roar and have it… well, roar. Once again,
Ratha has this ability, so just keep going from pit to pit until the Exotic Nibelsnart makes an appearance.
To fight the Exotic Nibelsnarf, you’ll need to roar,
then stand on the pit that the Exotic Nibelsnarf will try to dive into!
You’re on the right path, but you’re not quite done yet - head to some high ground on the southern edge of the area and from this perch roar with your Monstie and the Exotic Nibelsnarf will emerge from the ground near one of the pits before diving back down into it. What you need to do is predict which pit the Exotic Nibelsnart will dive into and stand there so you make contact - doesn’t seem like the safest idea, thing’s gotta be pretty heavy… but it’s video game logic. Make contact, start fight, objective complete. The Exotic Nibelsnart emerges in the northernmost pit, after which it’ll move east, then south, to the middle, then to the westernmost pit and finally to a pit to the northwest. Just check the provided image above and based on where you last saw the Exotic Nibelsnarf emerge, stand in the next pit it’ll target to get the fight started.
When the Exotic Nibelsnarf burrows, attack the right mound,
and you’ll be able to punish your foe with a Synchrorush!
For as much of a bother as picking a fight with the Exotic Nibelsnarf was, the fight itself is fairly anticlimactic. Use Power attacks to counter its Technique attacks and after a few rounds the Exotic Nibelsnarf will burrow, forcing you to attack one of three potential mounds. Guess right and you’ll topple the beast, provoking a Synchrorush, guess wrong and you’ll take some damage. Keep at it until your Kinship gauge is full, after which you’ll almost certainly have won the fight.
