Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the third entry in the Monster Hunter Stories franchise, with it being a full-blown RPG. Knowing it’s a mix of Monster Hunter and JRPG, expect to be for the long haul if you want to get all of the trophies and achievements. There are certain trophies/achievements in this that can be grindy, especially if you leave it for the end, so it’s a good idea to work on things as you play through the main story. Thankfully, nothing is missable, so you don’t have to worry about blowing past a section and not getting a specific trophy/achievement.
As already said, this can be a long game for getting all trophies/achievements, especially if you neglect certain things. Some aspects will just take long, simply due to there being no quick way to do that action. Others may take a while to unlock, just because it’s something you wouldn’t normally do. Thus, it’s a good idea to look over the list and work on some of the things as you go through the main story.
Step 1 - Complete Main Story¶
Naturally, since nothing is missable, you should worry about getting through the main story. During this step, you will want to try and work on some of the completion stuff, like performing Kinship Skills, breaking Monster Parts, and other things like that. You will also want to make sure you do all of the Side Stories related to your companions as the game goes on. There will be one for each companion in every chapter, which helps power them up, as well as add new weapons and monsters for them to use. Likewise, you will want to do the various Side Quests as you progress, since there are quite a few of them and you’ll need to do all of them.

Step 2 - Feral and Invasive Monsters¶
During the course of the main story, you will fight some Feral Monsters, which are stronger than normal versions of regular monsters. Usually after defeating some of these, a Camp will be placed at the site that will allow you to start working on Habitat Restoration, which is essentially restoring an area’s ecosystem. These Camps also function as a Stable, Catavan, and Ranger Mess. Later on in the game, you will unlock the ability to do Excursions from Camps, so it’s important to get them all (if only because there’s a trophy/achievement tied to doing so).
Related to the Habitat Restoration is another type of creature, called Invasive Monsters. These are monsters that only spawn at night and are essentially small puzzles. You have to do specific things during the battle, like use a certain weapon or buff your characters in a specific way (for example) in order to make the Invasive Monster retreat. Upon doing so, you gain access to an Endangered Species egg that you can introduce to an area that puts that monster in that ecosystem. This allows you to unlock that Monstie, and usually other variants, for your own use. You have to do all of the Invasive Monsters for a trophy/achievement, plus you’ll need to unlock all of the variants to fill the Monsterpedia.
Step 3 - Calamitous Elder Dragons¶
Unfortunately, nothing really new unlocks after completing the main story, but there will likely be quite a bit of grinding to do if you wish to get everything. There is one subset of monsters out there that are quite challenging and best left for the endgame, the Calamitous Elder Dragons. These creatures only spawn at night by winning enough battles during the night. There is one Elder Dragon in each of the game’s four regions and they can be quite challenging, so there is a lot to prepare for with each one. These battles are slightly different, though, as if you get their HP low enough, you will repel them even if you lose all of your hearts.
This means that the next time you fight that particular Elder Dragon, it will start with its HP at a certain threshold. What this allows is for you to potentially have an easier time defeating them in the long run, which you’ll need to do to all four for one trophy/achievement. There is another one that requires you to slay an Elder Dragon without repelling it, something that’s a little more challenging, but with the right setup, it shouldn’t prove too cumbersome. Yama Tsukami is probably the easiest option for this, since its attacks aren’t as bad as the others.
Step 4 - Cleaning Up¶
If you’ve done all of the above, but haven’t unlocked all of the trophies/achievements, then you should worry about getting anything else at this stage. Stuff you likely have left to do include finding Poogies, Kinship Skills, getting all Decorations, and more.
