Arknights: Endfield is an action role-playing game developed and published by Hypergryph. It serves as a spinoff of the studio’s 2019 tower defense title Arknights, moving away from that format into a real-time 3D experience. The game launched globally on 22 January 2026 across Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
At its core, Endfield blends action RPG gameplay with strategic systems. Players explore a semi-open world while managing a base-building layer that introduces elements of planning and resource control. This marks a clear shift from the original game, replacing tower defense mechanics with a broader mix of exploration, combat, and management.
Combat revolves around a four-character team that operates simultaneously. Players can switch between members during battle, using a combination of basic attacks, tactical skills, combo abilities, and ultimates. A shared skill gauge system governs ability usage, encouraging coordination between characters. Enemies can be pushed into an imbalanced state through sustained pressure, opening them up to increased damage and execution attacks before the state resets.
Alongside combat, the game places significant emphasis on base building and industrial systems. Players gather resources from mining nodes, transport them via custom routes such as ziplines, and process materials through machines and conveyor networks. Managing power, inputs, and outputs forms a key part of progression, with developers aiming for a balance between RPG mechanics and factory-style gameplay that players can adjust to their preference.
The story takes place on Talos-II, a moon colonised by pioneers from the planet Terra over a century before the events of the game. Players assume the role of the “Endministrator” working for Endfield Industries. The world is shaped by natural disasters known as Catastrophes, including a phenomenon called Corruption, as well as threats from hostile creatures known as Aggeloi and raiders called Landbreakers. As different factions compete and cooperate across the frontier, the player’s role ties into rebuilding systems, exploring hostile regions, and expanding industrial infrastructure across the planet.
Arknights: Endfield tries to bring something new to the genre, and after a slow start, its unique take blending factory management alongside a more traditional Gacha is an interesting one.
