Schools Out Safe Code

The School House is one of the main story quests in Dying Light: The Beast, which allows players to enter the school and do some exploring. Part of the School House has an optional safe code puzzle that requires some puzzle solving in a school infested with undead. School House Safe Code Walkthrough¶

For readers who don’t know where this is: You can enter the School Dark Zone as part of the main story quest, or voluntarily via the open world map. Enter via the open window, then make your way through the vents to enter the school. From there, you can find a room on the left in the main school hallway with the safe inside it.

To solve the puzzle, you need to work out the code in binary. The binary code is as follows:

• 101
• 101000
• 1011010

Now to break this down, you need to understand how binary works.
Binary is a power of 2 progression: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, etc. This is why we have bitrates you’re familiar with in internet download speeds, operating systems, etc. In binary, we signal 1 for “on” and 0 for “off.” If you see 1, it signals that you multiply by 1 times the number in that position.

So, let’s take the binary School House safe code hints on the board:

• 101: That’s 4×1, 2×0, 1×1 = 5
• 101000: 32×1, 16×0, 8×1, 4×0, 2×0, 1×0 = 40
• 1011010: 64×1, 32×0, 16×1, 8×1, 4×0, 2×1, 1×0 = 90

Input 5 40 90 into the safe code and you should be able to open it. The rewards you get from it are as follows:

• Smartphone
• Jewelry

It’s some nice Old World Money if you can quickly get in and grab them, along with all the other valuables knocking around the school lockers and other rooms.
