Deathbird (Capital Outskirts) |
Another area, another Deathbird. This particular one can be found in the Capital Outskirts of Leyndell. All of these fights play out the same, with the only difference being some stat padding (more health, deals more damage). Deathbird’s difficulty can vary based on how you wish to tackle it and what your playstyle is. If you’re a mage with long-range magical capabilities, you can stay on Torrent, keep medium distance and pelt it with spells, it’s weak to most forms of magic and even attacks like Ash of War: Sacred Blade will put huge dents into its HP. If you’re a straightforward melee however, you’ll want to go toe-to-toe as the best place to be is directly under its legs. With that in mind, your goal should be to find yourself around the legs of the Deathbird at all times, the only attack you’ll have to watch out for at this point is the Sweep and Leap, but that can be avoided by rolling through the first sweep. Just be wary not to find yourself standing under its head, it will use Peck on you and if it uses it multiple times, the damage can really add up, especially as you won’t be able to guard through it. For a full strategy guide, see our boss page here.

Draconic Tree Sentinel (Capital Outskirts) |
A grotesque Tree Sentinel malformed after the attack by the ancient dragon Gransax. The Draconic Sentinel is a formidable opponent and are much tougher than their weaker counterparts, the Tree Sentinels. It has several attacks to watch out for. If you’re at range, it can hurl multiple fireballs at you in quick succession. Either roll through, or to the side of them to avoid taking damage. You’ll normally get hit by these when you try to heal. Most of its melee attacks are your typical slow cleaves and slams with its lumbering colossal weapon. You can avoid most of these by attacking the Sentinel on its shield side or i-framing through each swing. One of its more devastating attacks is its red lightning skill. You’ll know this is coming as the tip of its weapon will start building a red electricity around it, followed by the shield before it unleashes a red lightning bolt at your location. This can be used at range too, so be ready to avoid it. The best time to dodge the attack is when the boss has pulled its shield all the way down, not when it lifts it up.
Lore
“After the great ancient dragon Gransax attacked, the sentinels had an epiphany. The only way to truly protect the Erdtree was to become dragons themselves.”

Fell Twins |
You must use light as much as possible, especially the second boss. You want to keep as much distance between the bosses as possible. The large Twin in the background will not do much unless it get’s close, so keeping your distance is important. You can equip a lantern for Phase 2 which allows you to see a lot better during this fight. The Fell Twins will be in the distance at the beginning of the fight, giving you plenty of time to summon Spirit Ashes. As boss fights in Elden Ring go, these two are among the easiest. They don’t have much health and their attacks are fairly predictable. One wields a sword and the other an axe, but their attack patterns are similar with either weapon. They use a lot of overhead slam attacks, kicks and punches, but most of these can be interrupted with a big enough weapon. If you’re a ranged class, both enemies can be kited fairly easily. The main attack that you’ll want to avoid from both is a charging grab attack, as this will lead to an animation lock that you can’t escape, and which inflicts massive damage.
Lore
Twin Omens that stalk prey that would seek out the Divine Tower of East Altus, luring them into a nothingness that causes Tarnished to lose their way before being struck down.
Location
You can only access this area after you have defeated Morgott. Morgott is the second and main boss of the Capital City. The Fell Twins bosses are located on the southeastern bridge leading from Altus Plateau to the Forbidden Lands. You won’t see them the first time that you cross over the bridge, but if you turn back you’ll notice that everything turns black, and the boss fight begins.
