Basic Mechanics¶
The gameplay is relatively simple. With only a handful of controls and no complex combinations, the player is encouraged to explore (in third person) what the developers term an ‘artistic experience’, where the player will ‘solve emotionally challenging puzzles’. The game has twenty-one achievements, each of which are described throughout this guide to allow you to obtain them on your first playthrough. Three of the achievements count as hidden and are easy to miss, but they are noted in this guide so that you will find them in the most convenient way. There are also memories associated with each character that you will discover as you play them. I have included detailed descriptions of how to find them as you go through the game to avoid needlessly repeating aspects of the story.

Stuck on loading screen?¶
Although it is assumed that most people will complete the game in one sitting, it is possible to play for a short period of time and return to where you left off later. However, keep in mind that the game saves at specific points in the story. You will need to progress at least beyond the prologue in order for the game to save when you quit. Usually the game saves after completion of each chapter (The Kid, The Best Friend, The Hunter, etc). During one playthrough on PC I discovered a bug associated with the save function, whereby the game menu fails to load if you quit and reload at any point beyond completion of the prologue. This is due to the save function being poorly optimised for the PC platform. Thankfully the bug is fixable by playing the game in compatibility mode. To do this go to the game folder, located here by default:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\june
Right click on ‘LastDayofJune.exe’ and select properties. Select the compatibility tab and under ‘Compatibility Mode’ tick the box for ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7. You should now be able to leave the game at any point without being faced with an endless loading screen upon your return.
