Perhaps you picked up this game because you’re a long-time fan, or perhaps you’re looking for something new, or a friend of yours forked over a spare copy as a surprise gift and so that s/he doesn’t feel bad, you’re booting it up for the first time. No matter the reason, fear not: this guide is for you!
So what exactly is Monster Hunter?
Well, the short answer is…you hunt monsters.
The long answer, you ask? You are assigned quests that you must take on, and you are given a time limit to fulfill the objective, which is usually to take down a monster much, much larger than yourself! Once completed you will receive rewards you can use for future quests or to make more powerful equipment. Rinse and repeat.
Of course, it’s far more nuanced than that. This is Monster Hunter we’re talking about, and it’s never that simple! You must prepare yourself by packing specific, specialized items for your quests, and your armor and weapons must also be appropriate for the monster you’re hunting!
Monsters themselves are a world all their own. They have highly individualized weak spots and strengths, and will use the terrain to their advantage to take you down!
And don’t hunt by yourself, either! The best part of Monster Hunter is that you can team up with up to three other players, local and online, to take down even the biggest, baddest monsters faster than ever!
Well, enough talk. It’s time to dive into the world of Monster Hunter!
